Prognosis of colorectal peritoneal metastases: An analysis of 10,553 patients treated with

systematic therapy in prospective randomized trials (ARCAD database)

This research paper was done by over 17 authors in 2016. The aim of this research was to further
investigate the impact of number and location of metastases among patients receiving first-line systemic
chemotherapy and also to compare overall survival and clinical characteristics of such patients with
isolated pmCRC, non-isolated pmCRC and mCRC patients without peritoneal involvement.

For the methods used for this research paper, individual patient data were available on 10,553
patients enrolled onto 14 first-line randomized trials also, the researchers used stratified Cox models. The
results showed that there were 87 % of the patients with non-peritoneal. mCRC with one disease site, 2%
patients with isolated pmCRC, and 11% with pmCRC and other organ involvement. Patients with pmCRC
compared to those with non-pmCRC were more likely to be female, have colon primary tumors and have
performance status 2.

For the interpretation of the findings of this research, the pmCRC patients have significantly worse
survival than those with other. Isolated organ/site mCRC.. Among patients with metastatic organs/sites,
poorer survival is a function of both increased of metastic sites and peritoneal involvement.. The pattern
of metastasis and in particular, peritoneal involvement, result in prognostic heterogeneity of mCRC.

Reflection:

This what happens we don’t take good care of our bodies, we may healing form all the advancement
of technology around us but we can't undone the damage we have done with our bodies. We may find
temporary ways to minimize the damage that was done in our bodies. The patients of this research
papers may have found chemotherapy and other procedure that can lessen the damages that their
diseases made in their body but they undo their diseases and return to their healthy normal bodies.
Taking care of our body is crucial in this time because we are more prone to disease than before. This
diseases eventually evolve so that they can go beyond their limits and kill more humans. This is a basic
idea on living a healthy life. We should really take care of ourselves for with that, we can also take care of
others as well.
