1. What is the name of the fielder that plays between the 2 nd and 3rd base?
Shortstop – The shortstop has many roles such as backing up 3 rd base or 2nd
base but mainly it is to stand between the bases and inside the softball
diamond.

2. A batter is out after how many strikes?


3 Strikes – A batter gets three strikes and they are out, the next batter comes
to the plate.

3. How many players are there in the outfield in fast pitch?


3 Players – There are the left field player, centre field player and right field
player.

4. After how many ball does a batter walk to 1st base?


4 Balls – A batter can have a combination of 4 balls and 3 strikes pitched to
them but when the batter gets 4 balls, they automatically walk to 1 st base.

5. Which player throws the ball over the home plate to the batter?
Pitcher – The pitcher throws the ball underarm over the home plate to the
batter and they attempt to pitch a maximum of 7 balls to the batter with a
combination of strikes and balls allowing a pitcher 4 balls, and 3 strikes.

6. What is the name of the softball area that the game is played on?
Diamond – A softball diamond consist of home plate, a 1 st base, a 2nd base,
and a 3rd base.

7. What word is used when 3 players are batted or run out in one pitched ball?
Triple-Play – The batter hits a fly ball, and its caught. A runner attempts to
run second base, the ball is caught and the player tagged out. A runner
attempts to run to home plate to score run, the catcher catches the ball and
tags the runner before touching home plate.

8. Which base is opposite to the home plate?


2nd Base – The second base player stands near their base but stands on the
line between the 1st base and second base, so they can backup 1 st base if the
batter has bunted.

9. What is the name of the player that stands outfield behind 2 nd base?
Centre Field – It plays directly behind 2 nd base but in the outfield and it helps
back up 2nd base and other outfield positions.

10. What does the batter do, if the batter hits the ball fair?
Run to 1st Base – Hitting the ball fair means the ball has been hit in the
playing field and the batter has to run to 1st base.
