Digital Citizenship

Digital citizenship refers to the responsible use of technology by anyone who uses
computers, the Internet, and digital devices to engage with society on any level.

Access
Be aware of who has access to the internet and content.
Not everyone has the same type of access, therefore,
other resources may be needed. Make sure no one is
denied digital access.

Commerce
Understand that a mass majority of sales are done
electronically. Users need to become effective
consumers in the digital economy.

Communication
There are many different ways to communicate
electronically. These include, but are not limited to,
email, cell phones, instant messengers, etc. Everyone
has the opportunity to communicate with anyone from
anywhere and anytime.

Literacy
Digital literacy allows users to remember basic facts and
concepts, understand ideas and concepts, apply
information in new situations, analyze connections
among ideas, evaluate decisions, and create new work.

Etiquette
Remember, there are real people on the other end of
technology. Be respectful! Do not say anything you
wouldn’t say face to face. Only talk to people you know.

Rights and Responsibilities


We all have freedom of expression, right to privacy,
credit for our personal work, right to digital access, and
right to our identity.

Health and Wellness


Be aware of how much time you are spending on the
internet. It is easy to stay on for hours playing games,
however, very unhealthy. While you are on
technological devices posture is important.

Security
Protect yourself and your information from the outside
that could cause harm. Keep your accounts private, do
not talk to someone you do not know, backup your data,
and use anti-virus protection.
