VIRTUAL COURTS

Amid the novel coronavirus outbreak, the virtual courts emerged as


indispensible tools to deliver justice at the door step. The time when courts are
already saddled with millions of pending cases, this new way of transacting
into a virtual space can unleash the new potential in Indian Judicial System.

Virtual or Internet court also act as an incubator for a Judiciary going through
rapid change. It is a concept which aims at eliminating the presence of the
litigants or lawyers in the courts of adjudication of the case online.

It is a facility that provide the litigants to file the plaint electronically through
e-filling and also pay the court fees or fine online.

How does virtual court works?

It has a public portal which can be accessed through normal internet. One can
search their case with the help of challan number, mobile number, vehicle
number, case number, CNR number or party name.

Benefits of virtual courts-

 you can pay traffic challan online ;


 you can pay court fees or court challan online ;
 it will remove the need of the litigant to present in the court ;
 it will reduce the wastage of paper in filing the plaint etc.

Virtual Court or e-court allow you to file a case and participate in litigation
easier because you don’t have to go to the court.Virtual Court were not created
in vacuum. They fall into a large set of judicial reform as India looks to
improve the rule of law and confidence in the court system.

It seeks to improve the judicial system in various ways, including making it


more transparent, more professional, more specialised and give judges an
increased amount of autonomy.

Anticipating that almost all courts hearing in india will be held online in future,
“it’s just a matter of time to get this technology nationwide.”
