1 Giving mobile phone number + e-mail address

Talking about the age: The most common ways of asking someone’s age is English is:
How old are you?
How old is your brother/sister?

1. I am 25 years old.
2. I am 25.
3. I am 25 years of age (this is a very formal way of expressing age)
4. I am 25 years. (this is incorrect. Use the expression ‘years old’ or ‘years of age’)
5. My fried has two sons aged 8 and 10. (with ‘has’ in the sentence, do not use ‘years’. ‘Aged’ is
an adjective in the sentence)
6. My friend has a daughter aged 5. (not 5 years old)
7. My neighbor has a four month old baby. ( do not say four months old baby)
8. My uncle has a twenty year old daughter. (not ‘a twenty years old daughter’)
9. My house is 40 years old. (not ‘my house is 40’)
10. My twenty year old car still runs. (not twenty years old car)

Giving mobile phone number: Cuando queremos pedir el número de teléfono a alguien de forma
general preguntamos:
What’s your phone number? ¿Cuál es su número de teléfono?
Si queremos ser más específicos podemos preguntar el número de celular o móvil.
What’s your cell phone number? ¿Cuál es su número de celular o móvil?
What’s your Mobile number? ¿Cuál es su número de celular o móvil?
Si queremos preguntar el número de la casa:
What’s your home number? ¿Cuál es el número de su casa?

Para responder a las anteriores preguntas decimos: “it’s” y “el número”. Recuerda que los números de
teléfono en inglés se dicen número por número, uno a uno. Ejemplo:
What’s your phone number? It’s / It is 555-234-568
Giving e-mail address: Cuando queremos saber el correo electrónico de una persona, simplemente
hacemos la siguiente pregunta.

What’s your email address? (¿Cuál es su correo electrónico?)

@: at (arroba)
Dot: punto .
Hyphen: guión –
Underscore: guión bajo _
En el vocabulario de correos electrónicos y del internet en general el punto no se dice “point” sino
“dot”.

 My email address is: bruce-smith_1@fastmail.com
