Resize LUN protected by Recoverpoint and SRM

This is not a task that I do very often, but when I do, I seem to forget the “gotchas” in does not update
this process.  Documentation is not cohesive, so below are my steps to follow. MARCH 10, 2015

High Level:

1. Disable RP Group, remove replication

2. Resize Storage LUNs on both sides SUBSCRIBE / CONNECT
3. Resize Storage VMFS volumes in vCenter
4. Add Replication back and Enable RP Group Subscribe to our e­mail newsletter to receive

The more detailed steps may be different in your situation.  For instance, you may have direct E­mail   Submit

attached LUNs to VMs or Physical machines in lieu of VMFS on the LUNs.

         
Detailed Steps:

1. Login to the Recoverpoint GUI (Unisphere)

2. Click Protection > Manage Protection.

3. Click your Consistency Group (CG) that contains the replicated LUN you want to
change.
4. Click Group Policy tab. Phil is an IT director at a SMB call­center near
Charlotte, NC. Phil specializes in datacenter
5. Under External Management, change “Managed By” to Recoverpoint and click
technologies, including all things cloud, VDI, Info­
Apply. Sec, and VoIP. Phil is a VMware Certified
6. Back on the main Status tab for your CG, click “Disable Group” at the bottom. Professional and was selected as a vExpert for
2013, 2014, and 2015. 
7. Select the Replication Sets tab and select the replication set that contains the LUN
in question.
8. Click Remove Replication Set and choose yes to confirm.
9. Now in a new browser window, login to the production VNX GUI (Unisphere).
10. Resize the LUN in question.
11. Now in a new browser window, login to your DR SAN (NS-120 in my case) and resize
 the LUN to the EXACT same size as your Production LUN.
12. Login to vCenter.
13. Browse to Hosts and Clusters.
14. Find and select a host where the LUN is attached and click Configuration, Storage.
15. Find the LUN in question and right click on it, choose Properties.
16. Select Increase and follow the wizard of your new volume.
17. Now head back over to Recoverpoint (you should still be on the Replication Sets
tab).
18. Select Add Replication Set.
19. Select your Production Volume from the list first and choose “Next Select Copy
Volumes”
20. Select your DR (copy) volume from the list and choose “Next to Review”.
21. Once you’re finished reviewing, choose Finish.
22. Choose the Status Tab and click Enable Group.
23. Head back to the Group Policy tab, and under External Management, change
“Managed By” back to SRM.  Click Apply.
