Hola!, en esta guía explicativa vas a aprender a indicar la existencia o la

inexistencia de personas, cosas u objetos con There is/ isn’t - There are/
aren’t.

Y qué hago con esto?...

Usando There is/ isn’t - There are/ aren’t podemos
expresar que “hay” o que “no hay” alguien o algo en
determinado lugar o situación. Así es que hablamos de:
 Objetos en plural o singular, por ejemplo: book(s),
school, car(s), cell phone(s)
 Para hablar de una o varias personas: a man- two/three men,
 a woman - two/three women; a child- children; a friend- friends;
1 person- 2 people
 Sustantivos contables ( c ) / incontables.( I ): water(i); apple (c ),
sugar (i), meat (i ), orange ( c ), etc.

Usamos there is para singular (y para
cosas incontables)
There is a dog in the park.
 Hay un perro en el parque.
There isn’t a man at the door
 No hay un hombre en la
puerta.
There is a gas station down the
street.
 Hay una estación de servicio
bajando por esta calle
There isn’t a bus stop on the corner.
 No hay una parada de cole en
la esquina.
There’s some wine in the bottle.
Usamos there are con sustantivos en
plural
There are three bottles of water in
the fridge.
 Hay tres botellas de agua en la
heladera.
There aren’t six cats in the living
room.
 No hay 6 gatos en el living.
There are many shops in Patio
Olmos.
 Hay muchas tiendas en Patio
Olmos
There are some people outside.
 Hay algunas personas afuera

botella.  Hay 2 estudiantes nuevos en

There aren’t three cars outside.
No hay 3 autos afuera.
