Summative Rubric 
Summative Tasks​:  
● Design a memorial that you believe most accurately represents how we should remember the Second World
War (​SS.H.4.6-8.MC & SS.H.2.6-8.MdC)
● Participate in a seminar debating the perspectives on the decision to drop atomic bombs on Japan
(​SS.H.4.6-8.MC & SS.H.2.6-8.MdC) 
Essential Questions and Focusing Questions:  
1. FQ: Why did Japan attack Pearl Harbor?
2. FQ: How did the war impact individuals and groups?
3. FQ: How have historians taken different perspectives on the war?
4. FQ: Should the US have used atomic weapons on Japan?

Enduring Understandings:  
● Japan attacked Pearl Harbor for geopolitical, economic, and imperial concerns.
● From the attack on Pearl Harbor, to the aerial fire bombing of civilians, to the dropping of the atomic
bombs, historians have viewed WWII differently and emphasized different perspectives.
● Historians play an important role in how we remember the past--and, as a result, how we act today.
