ESTUDIO DE CASO
Notes: Present perfect is used when we want to talk about past but we don´t specify time, different from “past
simple” where we specify time.
Eg: PAST SIMPLE: Javier arrived yesterday.
PRESENT PERFECT: Javier has arrived. (It doesn´t matter when Javier arrived, we want to know if Javier
arrived or not)
The other use of PRESENT PERFECT is when we want to connect the past with the present:
Eg: How long have you been here? , In this question we really want to know the time that person is waiting, we
want to connect the past or the moment he arrived to the present where he is)
People have not traveled to Mars (I want to emphasize that from the moment the man began to travel to
space, he has not been able to travel to Mars)
Exercise 2: How many times have you done these things in the past week? Write your answers. Then compare with a

It is used to ask another person for the experiences of his life, things that have done or experienced that person
throughout his life
The particle 'ever' is always followed by the subject in such questions. Look that to say 'in Venice', the preposition in
English is 'to', not 'in'. Be careful because this is a very common mistake among Spanish speakers.
Exercise 6: Work in pairs. Write questions using have you ever…?? then practice with a partner.
