Assignment Brief and Guidance:

Working as a Musical Theatre performer, you will need to develop a range of dance styles
including Tap Dance.

Task 1: Participate in regular weekly tap classes, and develop technique, style, co-
ordination, light and shade, strength and stamina. In time, you will be able to learn and
retain combinations (including the Shim-Sham Shimmy), which will gradually increase in
length. You will also be expected to learn the required Tap Dance vocabulary and
respond to verbal instruction. Your Tap class will be filmed on one or more occasion, so
that you can reflect on your own performance and progress.
