Verbo CAN

Significa (meaning) Poder. Examples:

o I can come to the party tonight / Puedo ir a la fiesta esta noche (Afirmativo)
o She can´t call me in the morning / Ella no me puede llamar en la mañana (Negativo)

También se usa para: (It’s also used for:)

Habilidades (abilities): podemos decir las cosas que podemos o no podemos hacer.

o She can speak 6 languages / Ella sabe hablar 6 idiomas

o They can’t play baseball / Ellos no saben jugar béisbol

Solicitudes (request): Podemos solicitarle a alguien que haga algo

o Can you come tomorrow to help me? / ¿Puedes venir mañana para ayudarme?
o Can you call me as soon as you get to the hotel? / ¿Me puede llamar tan pronto
como llegue al hotel?

Permisos (permission): Podemos pedirle permiso a alguien para hacer algo

o Boss, can I go now? / Jefe, ¿puedo irme ahora?

o Mom, Can I spend tonight at my aunt’s house? / Mamá, ¿puedo pasar la noche en
la casa de mi tía?

Posibilidades (possibility): es posible hablar de la posibilidad de que algo ocurra o no

o We can be good friends in the future / Podemos ser buenos amigos en el futuro
o I think I can become a great teacher / Creo que puedo ser un gran maestro
