à Unit 3 Project Proposal

 22 October 2010

This project proposal is in regards to what I am choosing to do for my personal project. After
putting in a lot of thought about what exactly my project should be I have decided to go with
making a pamphlet on why we as American¶s should vote. I believe that it¶s very important that
each and every one of us who is able to vote take advantage of that freedom and express their
opinion.

à
Every year around election time I always hear people discussing the topic of why should I even
bother voting? Many people think that their opinions or rather their votes don¶t even count
towards elections, but as a matter of fact every vote counts. We are a free nation and need to take
advantage of the fact that we are given these privileges to choose who runs our government.
Every time I hear this topic brought up I always strongly present my opinion of exactly why we
should vote and why it¶s our duty as American¶s to vote, which is exactly why I am choosing to
create a not only informational pamphlet but also a visually appealing pamphlet. Creating this
pamphlet will help all American¶s who have doubt that their vote doesn¶t count to understand
why it¶s important to step up and let your voice be heard.

I will incorporate different techniques to make this pamphlet go above and beyond the
expectations of any regular pamphlet. I don¶t want to create a pamphlet just like any other
pamphlet; when I use all my tools and resources to create this pamphlet everyone will want to
pick it up and read. By having enough reading material to really inform my readers and make
them realize that they need to change their ways and vote will make this pamphlet very powerful.
I want to be able to give my readers lots of supporting facts to why we should take advantage of
our voting rights. Although my pamphlet will have a lot of information I would like put a twist in
my pamphlet by incorporating some kind of visual aid such as a table to make it more fun to
read. My pamphlet will also be very eye appealing; I want to use the different political party¶s
colors to create a fun and classy design. By doing this people will want to pick up my pamphlet
and enjoy learning the valuable information inside. I want to create something that could make a
difference and influence people¶s perception on voting.

I will learn how to use word document to design a printable pamphlet. By using word I
will be able to insert pictures and text with ease.
I will learn how to print the document the way that I need to, to present the information
the way that it is intended to be presented in pamphlet format.
I will learn to organize the information I collect in the best possible and relevant way to
make it easier for readers to access the information quickly.
I will learn to make my pamphlet design so that it isn¶t too much or too little information.
I will learn to use useful visual aids and appropriate headings within my table.
I will learn to make that connection between myself and the reader so that the pamphlet
isn¶t just tailored to the way I like it but also to the way my readers will find most
appealing.

{

I will learn how to gather information and organize it in a way that is easier for me to
create an effective pamphlet.
I will learn better design formats to help me not only with this project but also in future.
I will become better educated with the Microsoft Word program so that I can do more
things than just write papers.
I will be able to present my strong opinions with supporting facts and more rationally to
readers.

As a person who is unfamiliar with creating an effective informational pamphlet I will take the
following measures in creating my project.
1. I will first research what other professionals have to say on why we should vote and
collect relevant information to put in my pamphlet.
2. I will then construct an outline of what information and visual aids I find useful in getting
the correct message that I want to send.
3. I will create a rough draft of my pamphlet and decide if I need to add information or more
visual aids.
4. I will collect more information if necessary and choose the most important stuff to
include in my pamphlet.
5. I will then add/ recreate my rough draft so that I know more necessary measures to take
to make the most credible/informational pamphlet.
6. I will practice printing my rough draft and pass it along to a peer to review and help me
in deciding if it¶s ready for final touches or needs more.
7. I will take my peer¶s comments and make changes accordingly.
8. I will finish up the final touches and coloring.
9. I will then for my last step print my final product and turn it in.

c
The following timeline indicates what dates I will be completing each step of my project. I used
two different colors of blue, a very dark blue and a lighter dark blue so that it¶s easier for you to
distinguish the different dates. This timeline won¶t only help you get a clear idea of where I
should be on my project but it will also help me stay on task and complete this project to the best
of my ability.

I know that this section is not required but after looking at the example I feel that it is a
beneficial part of the proposal. I believe that this project will benefit me in many ways. Just
learning how to use my resources and broaden my knowledge in word is a benefit in itself. This
project is going to help me know how to organize information in a beneficial way to not only
myself but also my reader. After I finish this project I believe I will have a whole new
understanding of project management and know how much work goes into making sure that
every little detail is perfect.

Below is a detailed grading rubric that will help you, Miss Enger grade this project accordingly.
It will also give you a clear understanding of what I am trying to accomplish with this project
and how effectively I am working towards that goal.
