Leadership Opportunities
There are many leadership
opportunities that Greek life offers
at NDSU. There are plenty of
chapter offices within each
chapter. According to Montazamie
(2010), positions include: chapter
president, VP membership
education, VP membership, VP
standards, VP operations,
secretary, treasurer, VP public
relations, and Panhellenic
delegate. There are also
leadership positions to represent
the Greek community as a whole.
The leadership groups include:
Gamma Chi Lambda, Greek life
advisory board, interfraternity
council, order of omega,
panhellenic council, and the Greek
programming council. All of these
positions are great opportunities
for Greek members, information

Greek vs. non-Greek
The chart on the next page will
illustrate the different leadership
opportunities in Greek life
compared to non-Greek life. You
will be able to tell that Greek life
students have many more options
as far as leadership opportunities
are concerned. All of these
positions prepare Greek students
for the competitive work force.
Social Opportunities
The Greek community also offers many NDSU Greek Life
social opportunities to their members.
As a fellow Greek member I have Written by Chelsea Wendlandt
participated in many formal dances,
mixers, and socials within the Greek
community. Each chapter usually has a
formal dance each year and the
sororities usually have an all sorority
ball. These events help each Greek
student get to know other students in
other chapters. Sororities usually have
events called sisterhoods where the
entire chapter gets together to watch Beginning of Greek Life
movies, eat, or carry through with fun

organization known as the “Fat Hat
Club”. Phi Beta Kappa was the first
fraternity founded at the college of
William and Mary in Williamsburg,
VA on the night of December 5,
1776. This fraternity was founded
under the same morals as any
fraternity today: a ritual, oath and
fidelity, a motto, a badge of
external display, scholastic
achievement and fellowship, and
high ideals of morality.
At NDSU
Green (2010), states that Greek life
began at NDSU on 1913. NDSU has
nearly 500 Greek students who
have risen close to $100,000 and
have served 5,500 hours at local
charities this past year.
