Objectives: - to revise and reinforce vocabulary related to toys


- to introduce vocabulary related to fruit
- to introduce and practise questions and answers about
numbers of fruit
- to give pupils confidence in their ability to use the English
language
- to develop communicative abilities

General competences:
1. Understanding simple oral messages
2. Expressing simple oral messages in everyday communication

Specific competences
1.1 Giving and adequate reaction to greetings and to a simple and short question/
instruction clearly and slowly spoken, followed by teacher’s gestures
1.2 Recognising names of objects from the surrounding area, in short and clear
messages
2.1 Reproducing simple information/songs/ short poems with the help of the
teacher

PROCEDURE
1. Activity 1: Warm up
Aim: to set the right atmosphere
Time: 2′
Procedure: Greetings, introductory conversation
Interaction: T→Ps, frontal
Skills: Speaking

2. Activity 2: Lead in
Aim: to introduce Ss to the theme of the lesson by revising names of toys
Time: 10’
Procedure: T shows Ss some pictures with toys and asks Ss to recognise them. T
asks learners the colour of objects and the number of toys they see in pictures.
Interaction: frontal
Skills: speaking

3. Activity 3: vocabulary drills


Aim: activate known vocabulary words and introduce new ones
(apple, strawberry, pear, watermelon, banana, grape, lemon, orange)
Time: 10 min
Procedure: T shows Ss some flashcards and elicits Ss to name the fruit and names
the ones Ps don’t know. Pupils repeat in choral drill and individually after the
teacher.

(Head, shoulders, knees and toes)

4. Activity 4: Practise through cards
Aim: to get Ss use more complex vocabulary structures like: two apples, three
bananas, etc.
Time:15’
Procedure: T shows Ss flashcards where Ss have to say how many fruit/toys etc
there are. First, T gives them several examples and then encourages Ss to answer
themselves. T asks the question ‘’How many balls?” and Ss say: “One ball.” Etc. T
elicits several pupils to come in front of the class and ask questions. The first Ss
to answer correctly takes his/her place. The game continues until all students
have asked questions.

5. Activity 5: pair work


Aim: to engage students in counting activity
Time: 10 min
Procedure: T gives learners a worksheet where they have to colour and number
the fruit.
Interaction: individual

6. Feedback and homework


Aim: to praise Ss’ work
Time:3 min
Procedure: T encourages the pupils and gives them a sweet as a reward for their
good work and behaviour.
