Mga Kababayang Dalaga sa Malolos

Theme:
Mga Kababayang Dalaga ng Malolos (English
Translation: To the Young Women of Malolos) is a letter
written by José Rizal for the young women of Malolos in
1889. The letter was addressed in the time of political
outrage caused by the twenty women who petitioned for a
night school to study the Spanish language and be at par with
men.

Background Story:

El Filibusterismo

of Greed,[1] is the second novel written
by Philippine national hero José Rizal. It is the sequel
to Noli me tangere and, like the first book, was written
in Spanish. It was first published in 1891 in Ghent.

THEME:

Noli me Tangere, Latin for "Touch me not" is an 1887 novel


by José Rizal, one of the national heroes of
the Philippines during the colonization of the country by Spain,
to describe perceived inequities of
the Spanish Catholic friars and the ruling government.
Originally written in Spanish, the book is more commonly
published and read in the Philippines in
either Tagalog or English. Together with its sequel, El
Filibusterismo, the reading of Noli is obligatory for high school
students throughout the country. The two novels are widely
considered the national epic of the Philippines and are adapted in
many forms, such as operas, musicals, plays, and other forms of
art.

- The enduring greatness of Rizal lies in the richness of his ideas and the
nobility of his examples. The validity of his progressive thoughts and soul-
searching teachings is his legacy to humanity.

Rizal’s prophetic insights and matchless visions on how the Filipinos can
travel the road to progress so that they can enjoy the fullness of nationhood
either economically, politically, educationally, socially and culturally under
the mantle of national solidarity are inspiring.

Most of Rizal’s best virtues that had been valued by Filipinos includes Love
and Charity towards the nation and his fellowmen. His love on his parents was
admirable and it was showed on his novels. His Purity and idealism were also
practiced as shown in his perfection of virtues and purity of thoughts with
clean behavior.

In addition, Noble Conduct is also one of Rizal’s values because he is a man


with Faith, clean conscience and upright thinking.

These values of our national hero can be very useful not only for me as a
student but also for every individual that has a vision on the great
improvement of our beloved Country.

 As a student how will you manifest your sense of nationalism?

- As a student, there are different ways to showcase my sense of nationalism. I


can achieve it by means of simple and possible ways such as showing my
respect towards the National Anthem and also with my local dialogue or
language. One more thing is by means of studying and practicing my history.

One more tool that may showcase my nationalism is through Promotion of


local products in that way I can show my pride towards Filipino products.
Practice of local culture will also have an impact on manifesting my
nationalism.

This small ways of mine can be enough to spark up one youth to another to be
able to achieve the Country’s long-term goals.

I am a Filipino youth, by heart, blood and mind


Through peace and unity we bind
In this country love and hospitality are shown
But we can’t achieve greatness if we fight alone.

Through ups and downs we should be one

We might not have weapons as others have,
But we got a heart that has pure of love.
