1. INTRODUCTION

Project is 200MWac (DT2) photovoltaic solar power plant located about 20km away
from Tay Ninh City to the northwest through Provincial Road No. 785 / DT785,
about 80km away from Ho Chi Minh City. Existing traffic road to the project is
relatively convenient, and there is local road to the site area.

Location of the project is shown in an image below.

2. OBJECTIVE OF METHOD STATEMENT

The objective of this method statement is to describe the procedures of welding works
for installation of mounting structure over the top plate of pile.

3. SCOPE OF WORK
Scope of work involves the installation of Column over the top plate of pile,
connecting pile top plate with column requires welding.

4. EQUIPMENT AND TOOLS
• Welding Machine
• Portable grinding machine
• Welding electrodes
• Measurement tool
• Scaffolding
• Generator
5. PROCEDURE
Following procedure shall be adopted for the welding process;
1. Welding surface shall be cleaned from any oil, rust and paint before the start of
process. Grinding tool shall be used to remove any paint if existed.
2. Column shall be placed on the top of pile plate and its vertical and horizontal
position shall be adjusted according to the design requirements.
3. Arc welding process shall be used, click and slide shall be followed to start the arc
and the position of arc shall be selected on the steel plate on top of pile.\
4. First four points of the steel plate shall be selected for fixation and welding slag
shall be removed after fixation.
5. In the next step full welding shall be done to complete the line.
6. Welding slag shall be cleaned after welding.
7. Visual inspection shall be done to check if there is any defect and same method
shall be used for repairing.
6. HEALTH, SAFETY AND ENVIROMENT
In addition to the conventional requirements, special measures and care shall be made to
ensure the safety of personnel working on the welding process;
1. Welder should be trained and certified.
2. Welder must be in good health.
3. Welder must be trained for safe work.
Special safety measures shall be taken as below;
1. Welding face shield and goggles with correct filter fitted, at all times.
2. Leather gauntlet gloves at all times.
3. Screen to protect the workers.

4. Safety boot all times
On site welding shall be done with direct current usually driven from the diesel
generator. Welding leads and welding return cables are usually dragged over the rough
surface so;
1. It shall be ensured that their insulation should be resistant enough to bear the wear
and tear.
2. The cables and couplings shall be examined frequently for defects.
3. The part of cable which is connected to the electrode holder should be flexible
enough.
4. The welding return should be firmly connected to the metal by clamp.
Necessary measures shall be taken to cope with the potential hazards of welding which
are as follows;
1. Fire
2. Explosion
3. Burns
4. Eye Damage
5. Heat Stress
6. Respiratory disease.
