That figure is equivalent to 4.22% of Bolivia’s GDP. In order to arrive at this data, it
was necessary to analyze valuable components of the balance of payments of the
highland country. The main components are current account balance, capital balance,
financial account balance and errors or omissions in the balance of payments7.
A, Current account balance: Bolivia in 2017 obtained a negative balance of -1 87
million dollars and 2018 it obtained a lower negative balance and whose value is -1 99
million dollars. This is due to the fact that exports of goods / services declined in recent
years. Likewise, income and transfers had a sharp fall due to various factors and
conflicts seen in Bolivia.
B, Balance of capital: Because the current account balance ended in negative
balance (deficit), it was tried to reduce its impact through foreign capital, Bolivia
showed a growth of 8 33 million dollars in 2017 and 2018. This surplus showed that
Bolivia Sought more investments to mitigate the negative effects of the deficit in its
current account balance.
C, Balance for financial account: Bolivia recorded bank assets/GDP of 48.4% in
2017 and 54.9% in 2018. Bolivia records bank iabilities/GDP of 85.63% 8 in 2017 and
84.60%9 in 2018. These indicated data that Bolivia has a deficit in the balance for
financial account because the foreign ownership increased in comparison to national.
D, Errors or omisshions in the balance of payments: The balance that bolivia has
registered is 125 977 400 US$10 so that your credit and debit entries add up to zero.
