Elon Musk, born as Elon Reeve Musk on June 28, 1971) is a South African-born

Canadian-American business magnate, investor, engineer, and inventor.

Musk is the founder, CEO, and CTO of SpaceX; a co-founder Series A investor,
CEO, and product architect of Tesla Inc.; co-chairman of Open AI; founder and
CEO of Neuralink. He was previously co-founder and chairman of Solar City; co-
founder of Zip2; and founder of X.com, which merged with Confinity and took the
name PayPal As of July 2017, he has an estimated net worth of $16.1 billion,
making him the 80th-wealthiest person in the world. In December 2016, Musk was
ranked 21st on the Forbes list of The World's Most Powerful People.

Musk has stated that the goals of SolarCity, Tesla, and SpaceX revolve around his
vision to change the world and humanity. His goals include reducing global
warming through sustainable energy production and consumption, and reducing
the "risk of human extinction" by "making life multiplanetary" by establishing a
human colony on Mars. In addition to his primary business pursuits, he has also
envisioned a high-speed transportation system known as the Hyperloop, and has
proposed a VTOL supersonic jet aircraft with electric fan propulsion, known as the
Musk electric jet.

Tesla first gained widespread attention following production of the

Roadster, the first mass-produced electric sports car, in February 2008. The
company's second vehicle, the Model S, an electric luxury sedan, debuted in June
2012 and is built at the Tesla Factory in California. The Model S has been the
world's best-selling plug-in electric car for two years in a row, 2015 and 2016. Its
global sales achieved the 150,000 unit milestone in November 2016, four years and

India due to sourcing issues in the country. Elon Musk, in a tweet, mentioned that
the launch of Tesla Model 3 Sedan in India delayed
“Maybe I'm misinformed, but I was told that 30% of parts must be locally sourced
and the supply doesn't yet exist in India to support that.”
