Abstract: - The most widely used motor in industry and other sector is induction motor. So our project works on controlling the speed of
induction motor. This is achieved by using Android phones remotely by the help of Bluetooth technology. Android is open source software,
manufacturers can modify the operating system to suit their respective needs and phones. Bluetooth, which is interfaced with microcontroller,is
used to connect to the Bluetooth modem of control circuit which is connected to the motor. Here the microcontroller used is AVR
microcontroller which is advanced version of 8051.Every time signal i.e. data is sent by android application as per the program written is
executed by microcontroller to deliver supply signal to TRIAC through optical isolation. And hence using wireless technology speed control of
induction motor is achieved.

Keywords: AVR Microcontroller, Bluetooth Module, TRIAC, Optocoupler.

requires adjustable speed. In latest technology different
alternate techniques are accessible for the selection of speed of
drive system.Up to the 1980‟s the dc motor was the choice for
variable speeddrive application but having many
disadvantages so that microcontroller transformed research
and development towards control of ac drive.Purpose of this
project is to control thespeedand direction of AC Motor

mobiledevices that includes an operating system, middleware
and key applications. Android boasts ahealthy array of
connectivity options, including Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and wireless
data over a cellularconnection (for example, GPRS, EDGE -

ATmega16 along with Optocoupler MOC3021 (for triggering
TRIAC) and commonAnode type bar graph display (for
indicating angle) are used for changing firing angle of TRIAC.
Signal from android phone is transmitted and received by
Bluetooth module and given to the microcontroller. According
to that microcontroller select the combination of Optocoupler
and resistance and hence firing angle of TRIAC is change.

The system is easy to operate and wireless control of

induction motor is achieved. Motor can be turn on or off using
mobile phones. LCD used display the status of current
operation of the system. As the technique is wireless
possibility of getting shock is avoided.

The main disadvantage is that its range is only up to

30 ft. The system becomes complicated if used for 3 phase
induction motor and due to the use of mobile phones it
consumes the battery of consumer.
