WELCOME

THANKS FOR GETTING MY FREE GUIDE ON

WEDDING MUSIC. IF YOU HIRED A GUITARIST
OR ARE CONSIDERING IT, YOU MUST HAVE
AMAZING TASTE. THERE'S MANY GREAT
REASONS TO HIRE A GUITAR PLAYER FOR
YOUR BIG DAY, AND THIS GUIDE WILL HELP
YOU LEARN HOW TO GET THE MOST OUT OF
THAT GREAT INVESTMENT.

IN MY YEARS WORKING AS A WEDDING

GUITARIST AND SINGER, I FOUND MANY
COUPLES WHO HAD THE SAME DOUBTS IN
REGARDS TO MUSIC CHOICE,
ARRANGEMENTS, AND OVERALL HOW TO GET
ONE PERSON TO COVER ALL OF YOUR MUSIC
NEEDS (WHICH IS ABSOLUTELY POSSIBLE)

AS ALWAYS I REMAIN AT YOUR SERVICE.

WARMLY,

ROBERTO HERMOSILLO

SINGER/CLASSICAL GUITARIST
WWW.ROBERTOHERMOSILLO.COM
THE BIG SECRET
TRADITIONALLY PEOPLE WOULD HIRE A STRING QUARTET FOR THE
CEREMONY, A SMALL JAZZ COMBO OR MORE CLASSICAL MUSICIANS
FOR THE RECEPTION, AND A BAND (OR DJ IN THE RECENT YEARS) TO
COVER ALL OF THE NEEDS FOR THEIR WEDDINGS. I HAVE EVEN BEEN
PART OF  WEDDINGS WHERE THERE WERE 3 BANDS FOR DINNER ONLY.
YES, 3 BANDS!

IF YOU HAVE THE BUDGET TO SPEND BETWEEN 10-20 GRAND ON JUST

THE MUSIC OF THE WEDDING, PLEASE DO SO! I ASSURE YOU THAT YOU
WILL HAVE A DAY TO REMEMBER. HOWEVER, IF YOU WANT TO SPEND A
BIT LESS AND STILL GET GREAT RESULTS, HIRING A GUITARISTS CAN
BE THE WAY TO GO.

WHAT MOST PEOPLE DON'T KNOW IS THAT THERE IS A GOOD AMOUNT

OF GUITARISTS WHO LIKE MYSELF ARE ALSO SINGERS. NOT ONLY
THAT, THERE IS MANY OF US WHO ARE ALSO PART OF TOP 40 BANDS.
NOT ONLY THAT, THERE ARE SOME OF US WHO EVEN HAVE LAPTOPS
AND THE SOUND EQUIPMENT TO DJ AND THE ABILITY TO MC.

I CAN'T TELL YOU HOW MANY TIMES I HAVE OFFERED GREAT DEALS
TO COUPLES IF THEY HIRE ME FOR MORE THAN ONE PORTION OF
THEIR WEDDING. IT SIMPLY MAKES MORE SENSE. I AM JUST ONE
PERSON, SAME SOUND EQUIPMENT, SAME CAR, SAME INSURANCE. IT
IS BETTER FOR EVERYONE INVOLVED!

SO, THIS IS THE BIG SECRET. HOWEVER, I WILL ALSO GO INTO DETAIL
ABOUT HOW TO PLAN EACH PART OF A WEDDING WITH A GUITARIST.
THESE ARE THE PARTS THAT I WILL BE TALKING ABOUT:

THE CEREMONY
THE RECEPTION
THE PARTY

www.robertohermosillo.com
THE CEREMONY
THE CEREMONY IS PROBABLY THE MOST IMPORTANT
(AND TOUCHING) PART OF YOUR WEDDING. YOU MAY
FIND MUSIC IN THESE SECTIONS:

PRELUDE: Typically, music should start about 15-20

minutes prior to the ceremony as the guests are sitting
down.

PROCESSIONAL: This is the fancy name we use for the moment

when you are walking down the aisle.

CANDLE LIGHTING: This happens during the ceremony.

RECESSIONAL: This is the fancy name we use when you are

leaving after the ceremony.

These are typical songs to be performed in the

previous three sections (and some not so typical):

Bridal March (Wagner)

Ode to Joy (Beethoven)
Jesu, Joy of Man's Desiring (Bach)
Air on G String (Bach)
Canon in D (Pachelbel)
Here Comes the Sun (Beatles)
In My Life (Beatles)
Somewhere Over the Rainbow
Isn't She Lovely (Stevie Wonder)
Thinking Out Loud (Ed Sheeran)
Vals Venezolano No. 2 & 3 (Lauro)

POSTLUDE: This is the section in which all of your guests are

leaving the venue and moving onto the reception area.

www.robertohermosillo.com
THE RECEPTION
THIS IS THE SECTION OF THE WEDDING IN WHICH ALL
OF YOUR GUESTS MOVE TO A SECONDARY LOCATION
FOR THE COCKTAIL HOUR, DINNER, TOASTS AND
POSSIBLY THE PARTY.

WHAT GOES HERE? Typically a small jazz combo, a

flamenco band, a classical guitarist, or a singer-
guitarist can take over this section. If you follow what
I previously explained, you hired a classical guitarist
who can sing and who can possibly act as an MC for
this section.

TYPES OF MUSIC FOR THIS SECTION: This is of course a very

personal decision, but classical guitar, latin music, pop songs,
and jazz standards tend to be the most common types of music
that you will find here.

THE PARTY
THIS IS THE SECTION IN WHICH EVERYONE IS GOING
TO HAVE AN AWESOME TIME AFTER HAVING DINNER,
AND A FEW DRINKS.

WHAT GOES HERE? Most couples choose from either a

Band or a DJ in this section. Again, if you read my
suggestion above, you now know that many wedding
guitarists also are part of a band. If that is the case,
take advance of the opportunity to get a package deal
in which you give him/her the opportunity to be in all
three main sections of the wedding for a discount.

In some cases, some guitarists even have the equipment

and software to DJ a wedding. If you do this, you can
greatly reduce the price of the music expenses for your
wedding.

SPECIAL REQUESTS
Many guitarists also have the ability to arrange music
for special occasions. If you always dreamed of walking
down the aisle to a particular piece of music, do
not hesitate to ask your musicians to arrange it for
you. While this will most likely entail an extra fee, it
is always great to walk down listening to that special
song.

Moreover, most musicians have a huge network of other

musicians. If you desire to have a combination of
instruments like guitar + violin, guitar + cello, or even
guitar + bagpipe (it happens), feel free to ask for that.

WHERE TO FIND A
GUITARIST
While some people have relatives and friends who are
musicians, it is always better to hire a professional
who had done this work for years.

The best way to find a professional is to ask your

wedding planner first. They usually have relationships
with many local musician and production companies
who do this better than anyone else.

Another great way to find good musicians is online.

There's many websites like Gigmasters where you can
also find good musicians.
