Annex

UNIT 1
Adjective: Is a word that describes a person, place, thing or idea. It provides information about the size,
shape, color, texture or number or quantity of the word it describes.
-- Example: I like your beautiful blouse.
Adverb: Is a word that modifies or describes a verb, and adjective or another adverb.
It describes when, how often, in what direction and the manner an action is done.
-- Example: I run quickly to take the ball.
Feeling: Is a frame of mind that makes an impression on someone based on an experience.
They determine how a person reacts to different events.
-- Example: My father is happy for my achievements.
Personal interests: Are the goals we want and seek to achieve.
-- Examples: I want to buy a house.
UNIT 2
The present continuous tense: Expresses the idea about activities that are happening now. It can be
used also, to express activities that are not happening now.
-- Example: Mariela is cleaning her bedroom.
An interrogative sentence: It is used to request information and ask a question. It starts with an auxiliary
verb or question word and ends with a question mark.
-- Example: where do you live?
An exclamatory sentence: It is used to express emotions and feelings such as joy, surprise, pain,
fear, etc. When writing one of these sentences an exclamation mark must be used at the end of the
sentence.
-- Example: I love this book!
Imperative sentences: Are used to give orders, instructions, commands and prohibitions, to beg or give
a warning. These sentences have no subject and end with a period or an exclamation mark depending
on the use.
-- Example: Close the door.
Relative pronouns: Are used to refer to a noun previously mentioned and we want to add more
information or change it.
-- Example: The boy who calls you yesterday is my brother.

UNIT 3
Synonym: Is a word which means the same as another.
-- Example: Intelligent - Clever.
Homophone words: Are words that are pronounced the same way but their meaning and
spelling are different.
-- Example: Aunt – Ant
Antonyms: Are words that have a contrary or opposite meaning to each other.
-- Example: Big – Small
The simple present: Is used to indicate habitual actions or actions that occur in the present but
not necessarily at the moment it is spoken.
-- Example: My little brother reads to my parents.

UNIT 4
The simple past tense: It refers to actions taken in a previous period and have already been
completed.
-- Example: I ate my breakfast.
Profession: Is any type of work that needs special training or a particular skill, often one that is
respected because it involves a high level of education.
-- Example: Mary is my English Teacher.
Subject: It is a part of the sentence, expresses whom the sentence is about.
Example: My mom is cooking a cake.
Predicate: It is a part of the sentence, describes the subject or tells what it does or has and starts
with a verb.
-- Example: My mom is cooking a cake.

Past continuous: Is about the auxiliary verb “to be” in past and main verb in infinitive with termination
ing.
-- Example: Mariela was cleaning her bedroom.
The industry: Is the process and activities whose aim is to transform the raw material in consumer
products.
-- Example: Footwear industry make shoes and they are made of leather.
Agriculture: Is the earth cultivation. This activity includes the soil treatment, cultivation production, the
developing and collecting of the harvest. The science that is practiced in agronomy.
-- Example: Agriculture has been practiced since the Neolithic period
Commerce: Is an economic activity of selling and buying.
Domestic commerce: Commerce between people in the same country.
Foreign commerce: Commerce between people from different countries.

UNIT 6
The interview: Is a dialogue between two or more people.
The main idea: Is the one that expresses the most important content that cannot be omitted
and does not depend on others.
The secondary ideas: Are less important than the main idea. Secondary ideas depend on the
main ideas.
Communication: Is a process in which people exchange information; this communication can
be verbal or nonverbal.

UNIT 7
Domestic appliances: Are equipment or machines that help us to complete daily household chores
more easily, like the stove, refrigerator, washer and dryer.
-- Example: Pedro has a television in her bedroom.
Electrical equipment: Is any machine that functions with electricity and normally has an on/off
switch.
-- Example: The lamp does not light.
Will: Is used to make predictions about the future or to make spontaneous future decisions.
-- Example, I will go to work.
Music: Is the art of combining sound and silence in a sequence that is pleasant to the ear.
-- Example: What kind of music do you like?

UNIT 8
Going to: Is used in plans and intentions, as well as predictions of future
activities that are certain to take place.
-- Example: I am going to stay.
Cardinal numbers: Are used to count things. They correspond to the name of
the exact number that we want to express, it refers to a quantity.
-- Example: My aunt read ten books the last year.
Ordinal numbers: Serve to give order to things.
-- Examples: I have the first place.
Popular expressions: Are ingenuous constructed phrases used to refer to
situations without using the conventional term.
-- Example: Like father, like son.
Theater: Is a literary genre that is normally represented on a stage in front of an
audience and is a mixture of linguistic and dramatic resources.

UNIT 9
Reported speech: Is used when someone else says what has been discussed
in a previous conversation.
-- Example: She says that she likes chocolate cake.
Coherency: Is a way to have well-structured texts that allows us to understand
them as unitary entities semantically.
Reading: Is a process in which the reader achieves to acquire new knowledge
and to communicate with the world.

Commerce: Is the activity of buying and selling of goods or services on a scale large enough to require
transportation from place to place nationally or internationally.
Tourism: Is to travel for pleasure and is a package of activities and services available to the traveler.
Tradition: Is a practice or belief passed down within a group or society from generation to generation.
-- Example: At Christmas my family and I eat tamales.

UNIT 11
Character: Is a person or part elaborated through language and image.
-- Example: Elsa is the main character of Frozen the movie.
Prepositions of place: Are words that describe where an object is situated.
-- Example: Mary is between me and my brother.
Should: Express a level of possibility or probability
-- Example: You should study more.

UNIT 12
Workshops: Are organized training sessions in which experiences and opinions are exchanged.
A warning: Is what someone says or writes to others about a possible danger, problem
or an unwanted situation that could occur. Example: You should take a pill.
A phrase: Is a group of words which serves as the function of a noun, adverb or adjective in a sentence,
but doesn’t have a subject or predicate. Example: I get up very happy.
Relative pronouns: Are used to join two sentences or to provide additional information about a person
or thing that is mentioned previously. Example: The ball which is on the backyard is mime.

Clasificación:
Se asigna un número a cada categoría empezando con 0 para la categoría Nunca.
Se multiplica el valor máximo por el número de indicadores; esto es calificación máxima
Ejemplo: Tabla anterior CM = 4 x 5 = 20.
Se suman los puntos obtenidos en cada indicador = X.
La calificación se obtendrá dividiendo esta suma (X) entre la CM y se multiplica por 100.
