Abstract:
The weight of lap is measure but also with weight the count of yarn is also measured, because
the count of lap is very important factor. When the lap goes on card machine than the gauging of
the card machine is totally set according to the material type and thickness of (count) of lap. The
lap count is set by the help of the piano pedal motion, and trunk glass door. The trunk glass door
control the feeding in Schechter machine.

Objectives:
 Change the lap count and measurement of weight variation per unit length of scutcher
lap.
 Observed the Trunk Glass Door movement.

Procedure:
 The first lap form by using the help of trunk glass door, we tight the trunk glass door
gauge tight and then operate the machine and checked the weight of lap.
 In this experiment we used the wooden template and weight balance.
 The weight of lap was noted in (oz/yard).
 Secondly we lose the gauge of trunk glass door and then operate the machine and took
another lap.
 There was special setting for control the lap count.
 The trunk glass door setting is done by manually and then took a lap sample.
 There was a hand roller which also help to change the lap count is there was any little
variation in lap count than by moving we can increase or decrease the count of lap.
 Normally the lap was produced 35 to 40 yard.

Observations & Calculations:

We took three sample of different sample.

L1 = 9.5 oz/yards

L2 = 14.5 oz/yards

L3 = 14.5 oz/yards

Than we took the mean of these values,

Formula,
𝐿1+𝐿2+𝐿3
Mean =
3
9.5+14.5+14.5
Mean =
3

Mean = 12.83 oz/yard

The mean of the different lap weight is 12.83 oz/yard.

of Trunk Glass Door

Results:
In this practical we calculated the count of lap and the calculated value of the lap is12.83
oz/yard. The lap was used in old blow room line but now the advance machine which use direct
chute system.
