Reservations are not necessary, and free parking is avail-
able at all houses. Each house will have guides available.
Groups of 15 or more who would like to provide their own
bus transportation should call the Philadelphia Museum of
Art Group Sales Department at 215-684-7863. Museum-trained

In addition to the trolley or self-guided tours, guests are
invited to enjoy a Holiday Buffet Luncheon catered by award-
winning Stephen STARR Events at the Fairmount Park Horti-

day, December 5, and Friday, December 10, through Sunday,
December 12, beginning at noon and concluding at 2 p.m.

Historic Strawberry Mansion, currently closed for reno-
vations, will host two special holiday events. The Historic
Strawberry Mansion Afternoon Tea & Silent Auction, catered
by Stephen STARR Events, will be held on Friday, December
3, noon - 3 p.m. at the Fairmount Park Horticulture Center
(N. Horticultural Drive & Montgomery Drive). The tea will
feature musical entertainment by soprano Julie van de Grift.
Guests receive free parking and reservations are required
by November 26. Tickets can be purchased for $35 per per-

berrymansion.org. The 3rd Annual Historic Strawberry
Mansion Holiday Greens Sale & Boutique, will operate Fri-
day, December 10, through Sunday December 12, from 10

(N. Horticultural Drive & Montgomery Drive). Fresh green-
ery, holiday arrangements, boxwood trees, topiaries, and
baked goods are available for purchase. All proceeds from
the event will benefit the Historic Strawberry Mansion Res-

The Historic Houses of Fairmount Park are among the most
significant collection of 18th and early 19th century domes-
tic architectural examples in the United States. Proceeds
from the events support the ongoing stewardship and main-
tenance of these treasures.

The Musket Ball


The Pennsylvania Society of Sons of the Revolution pre-
sented The Musket Ball October 9, 2010, at The Merion Cricket
Club in Haverford. The Musket Ball celebrates two defend-
ing events of the Revolutionary War: Victories at Saratoga,
New York in 1777 and Yorktown, Virginia in 1781. The Color
Guard paraded the Colors, followed by dinner and dancing
to CTO Grand Central. Ben Ramsey Wolf was Chairman, Musket
Ball Committee. Benjamin Charles Frick, Esq. is President of
the Pennsylvania Society of Sons of Revolution.

The Curtis Symphony Orchestra


Season Premiere Gala
Curtis Institute of Music presented this year’s Gala, cele-
brating Curtis’s all-school project for 2010-11, Paris: Between
the Wars. The gala began with cocktails and dinner at Park
Hyatt Philadelphia at the Bellevue, at 5 p.m., October 25,
2010. Curtis honored Dr. Milton L. and Constance Benoliel Rock
with the 2010 Gala, and named them as honorary chairs for
this year’s Season Premiere Gala. For more than thirty years,
whether spearheading Curtis’s Rock Resource Center or mak-
ing partnerships with the Rock School of Dance Education
a reality, the Rocks have been an inspiration to Curtis and
the Philadelphia cultural community.
