THE MINIMALISM

Para hablar de minimalismo debemos hablar inicialmente de que vivimos en un

mundo plenamente consumista, por supuesto guiado por el sistema económico
que lo domina, el capitalismo, que implica un consumo de bienes materiales y
servicios de manera masiva, como consecuencia de la también extensa
producción de los mismos; de tal manera que se crea una dependencia de los
sujetos con lo material, nunca siendo suficiente lo que se tiene.
Se hace importante mencionar un término con el que trabaja el capitalismo y es la
pulsión, es decir, el deseo, que ayuda a la aparición de una búsqueda
indiscriminada de algo que queremos pero no sabemos qué es, así que tenemos
algo pero eso no es suficiente para satisfacer el deseo, por lo que se adquiere
algo más y así sucesivamente, sin freno y sin fin.
Lo anterior se encuentra mediado a su vez por el lucro, que involucra una
necesidad de dinero y poder, por supuesto siempre inmerso en la dinámica del
mercado y del comercio, en donde el que no tiene no es nadie.
En contraposición al fenómeno del consumismo, ha surgido la tendencia del
minimalismo, inicialmente como tendencia artística y ahora adoptado como estilo
de vida, el cual busca reducir el consumo de bienes materiales a lo estrictamente
necesario.
Aunque cada vez más sujetos han ido convirtiéndose en adeptos de dicha
tendencia, no es suficiente; hace falta llegar y transmitir el mensaje a mucha más
gente, puesto que este tema no es conocido comúnmente, ni su concepto y mucho
menos las implicaciones que puede tener adoptarlo como estilo de vida. No está
de más decir que el minimalismo es un reto, en especial cuando estamos
rodeados de ofertas de productos y cosas materiales, que creemos querer y
necesitar, solo por como los medios las dan a conocer.

To talk about minimalism we must initially talk about living in a fully consumer
world, of course guided by the economic system that dominates it, capitalism,
which implies a consumption of material goods and services in a massive way, as
a consequence of the also extensive production of them, in such a way that a
dependence of the subjects with the material is created, never being enough what
is had.
It is important to mention a term with which capitalism works and it is the drive, that
is, desire, which helps the emergence of an indiscriminate search for something we
want, but do not know what it is, so we have something but that is not enough to
satisfy the desire, so that something more is acquired and so on, without break and
end.
The previous is in turn mediated by profit, which involves a need for money and
power, of course always immersed in the dynamics of the market and trade, where
the one who does not have is nobody.
In contrast to the phenomenon of consumerism, the tendency of minimalism has
emerged, initially as an artistic trend and now adopted as a lifestyle, which seeks to
reduce the consumption of material goods to the strictly necessary.
Although more and more subjects have become adepts of this trend, it is not
enough; It is necessary to reach and transmit the message to many more people,
since this topic is not commonly known, nor its concept, much less the implications
that it may have to adopt as a way of life. It is worth saying that minimalism is a
challenge, especially when we are surrounded by offers of products and material
things, which we believe we want and need, just because the media makes them
known.

Para hablar de minimalismo debemos hablar inicialmente de que vivimos en un
mundo plenamente consumista, por supuesto guiado por el sistema económico
que lo domina, el capitalismo, que implica un consumo de bienes materiales y
servicios de manera masiva, como consecuencia de la también extensa
producción de los mismos, de tal manera que se crea una dependencia de los
sujetos con lo material, nunca siendo suficiente lo que se tiene.
Los medios de comunicación se han encargado de acrecentar la búsqueda de
satisfacción material, pues junto con el mercado llevan a los individuos a conocer y
adquirir nuevos bienes que por lo general no son necesarios para su vida.

fundamentales para el artista, que utiliza la geometría elemental de las
formas, buscando la mayor expresividad con los mínimos recursos, siendo como
una crítica a la desmesura y el recargamiento de ciertas manifestaciones artísticas
como el pop art que representa los bienes de consumo. Ahora se ha adoptado
como estilo de vida, el cual busca reducir el consumo de bienes materiales a lo
estrictamente necesario, con el fin de conseguir la felicidad a través de la renuncia
a todo lo inútil, centrándose en lo que es importante para cada persona, pues cada
uno se encarga de distinguir lo que realmente necesita de lo que cree necesitar.
El minimalismo busca eliminar el problema de la infelicidad, que se encuentra
ligado al consumismo, puesto que estamos convencidos de que quién más dinero
y bienes materiales tiene, es quien más feliz, pero no siempre sucede así. Sería
errado decir que el dinero no aporta al hecho de alcanzar la felicidad, porque si lo
hace en cierta medida, pero más allá de eso, se requiere de relaciones eficaces
con los demás, asunto que se pierde a medida que se adquieren más objetos
materiales, es decir, se pierde la esencia de querer y ser querido por el otro.
Aunque cada vez más sujetos han ido convirtiéndose en adeptos de dicha
tendencia, no es suficiente; hace falta llegar y transmitir el mensaje a mucha más
gente, puesto que este tema no es conocido comúnmente, ni su concepto y mucho
menos las implicaciones que puede tener adoptarlo como estilo de vida. No está
de más decir que el minimalismo es un reto, en especial cuando estamos
rodeados de ofertas de productos y cosas materiales, que creemos querer y

Nos hemos empeñado en conseguir lo material, sin darnos cuenta de que no
compramos las cosas con dinero, sino con el tiempo de vida que invertimos para
conseguir dicho dinero, así que gastamos nuestra vida buscando lo material y se
nos olvida vivir realmente.

happiness through the renunciation of everything useless, focusing on what is
important for each person, since each one is in charge of distinguishing what he
really needs from what he thinks he needs.
Minimalism seeks to eliminate the problem of unhappiness, which is linked to
consumerism since we are convinced that whoever has more money and material
goods is the happiest, but it doesn’t always happen that way. It would be wrong to
say that money doesn’t contribute to achieving happiness, because if it does to a
certain extent, but beyond that, effective relationships with others are required, an
issue that is lost as more material objects are acquired, that is, the essence of
wanting and being loved by the other is lost.
Although more and more subjects have become adepts of this trend, it is not
enough; It is necessary to reach and transmit the message to many more people,
since this topic is not commonly known, nor its concept, much less the implications
that it may have to adopt as a way of life. It is worth saying that minimalism is a
challenge, especially when we are surrounded by offers of products and material
things, which we believe we want and need, just because the media makes them

We have insisted on getting the material, without realizing that we don’t buy things
with money, but with the time of life that we invest to get this money, so we spend
our lives looking for the material and we forget to live.
