Recommissioning of Altar Servers

(After the Homily)

( Altar servers to be installed form a single line and come forward.)

(All sacristans to be installed will stand, candles will be lighted)

Priest: Let them stand and be examined who are to be part of the Altar Servers of St.
Rose of Lima Parish, who will serve at the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass, assist at
Benediction of the Most Blessed Sacrament, and take an active part in other Church
functions.

(Altar servers raise their right hand)

Priest: Do you promise to be present on time for each and every assignment you will
have as an Altar server, and to be neat and clean as this privilege demands?

Servers: We do so promise.

Priest: Do you promise to serve so devoutly as to be a help to the devotion and

prayer of all who watch you represent them at the altar?

Servers: We do so promise.

Priest: Do you promise to conduct yourselves outside the church in a way that will
make all proud to have you as their reprensentative in assisting the priest at God's
Altar?

Servers: With God's help and the example and prayers of our fellow members, we do
so promise. Priest: May almighty God be witness to your intentions.

Altar Servers' Pledge

Lord Jesus Christ,/ Prisoner of the Divine Love/ in the Blessed Sacrament/ my kneeling here/
before your divine majesty,/ imploring your Divine grace/ so that I may be able to commit
myself/ totally ang wholeheartedly/ to the ideals and aims as Altar Servers./ I promise/ on my
word of honor/ to study and obey its rules/ and regulations/ and to be faithful to you./
Furthermore,/ I do pledge myself/ to defend the Holy Catholic Church/ Your altar and Your
priests/ I will honor Blessed Mary,/ Your mother,/ the patroness of every loyal server./ And
finally,/ I bind myself/ to Your church/ which You have founded/ on the Rock of Peter/ so that I
may find peace/ and happiness now and forever./ AMEN.

Final Blessing

Priest: Lord God, we ask you to be with us and look with favor to these Your
sons whom we have accepted and prayerfullly dedicated for the service of
Your son Jesus Christ as altar servers. We pray that they may be
strengthened by Him to carry out faithfully the mission entrusted to them.
Let them excel in every virtue; in sincere love, in concern for their brothers,
in purity and in good conduct, in serene joy and simplicity. Help them to
persevere in the service of your son who came not to be served but to serve
and give Himself to the service of others. AMEN.
