Dolphins Swim Team
This popular swim program is a wonderful opportunity for children interested in competitive swimming to try the sport for the first time
and has helped develop youngsters into very talented swimmers. The Dolphin coaching staff places a tremendous emphasis on skill
development in all four competitive strokes. Our belief is that long-term, proper swim technique translates into outstanding swimming
performance. In addition to proper mechanics, the program focuses on competition, teamwork and fun. The team is part of the
Middlesex League (Winter Suburban Swim League), which consists of 14 teams from around the region. Swim meets are held from
December through mid-March usually on Sundays. Team members typically have the opportunity to swim all events throughout the
season allowing them to develop speed and skill in all strokes. Twice weekly workouts are tailored to meet the individual needs of each
Swimmer Requirements:
Children ages 8 and under must be able to swim 1 length of the pool using 2 of the 4 competitive strokes
Children ages 9 and 10 must be able to swim 1 length of the pool using 3 of the 4 competitive strokes

About “Parents of Dolphin Swimmers” (PODS)

Parents of Dolphins (PODS) is a not-for profit (tax exempt) parent volunteer organization dedicated to supporting the Dolphins team
and coaching staff. PODS organizes equipment sales, team pictures, stroke technique clinics and a number of other events throughout
the season. The most important function of PODS, however, is to organize and run the swim meets. All of the swim meets your child
will participate in are run almost entirely by parent volunteers. Volunteers time, score, judge, oversee pool safety and manage the snack
bar. Parents of all team members are expected to volunteer in running the swim meets and other PODS activities.
PODS raises money for program support through: equipment sales, stroke clinics and the snack bar. Please be aware that, in cases of
financial hardship, PODS may be able to contribute toward the cost of the Dolphins Program Fee charged by the Recreation Depart-
ment. Funds are very limited and are given only after documentation of enrollment in Mass Health or the free school lunch program.
Please contact PODS for further information.

Your Teen's Brain on Yoga & Mindfulness

This workshop is recommended for coaches, parents, guardians, educators, and anyone who lives or works with teenagers.

For Better Grades, Impulse Control, Learning, Athletic Performance And More

With Coach, athlete and yogi, Nichole Bukowski

Your teen's brain is like a fertile garden teeming with seeds waiting to take root. There are seeds for learning new
languages, impulse control, assertive communication, writing and math skills, study skills, focus and concentra-
tion, and grit and perseverance. However, there are also seeds for lack of impulse control, addictive behaviors,
passive / aggressive communication, quitting when things are challenging. The seeds that get attention and care
are the ones that grow into skills, habits, and ways of being in your teen's life today and into the future.
Learn how yoga and mindfulness help teens learn to grow the habits and skills that help them succeed in school,
sports, music, positive and healthy friendships, addiction avoidance (including technology and substances), work-
ing through challenges, and cultivating a healthy self-esteem. The workshop will discuss how the use of breath
work, body movement, poses, and mindfulness empowers teens to have the patience, will-power, and courage to
develop healthy boundaries, navigate adversity, and avoid damaging temptations.
