A Critique Of Arguments Of Mirza: Jhelumi: Against Ilha:m

Mirza: Jhelumi: has tried to make some arguments against the ‘Ilha:m.

So it is required to make some objections on the most fundamental arguments of Mirza: Jhelumi: .

First Argument.

The first argument of Mirza: Jhelumi against ‘Ilha:m is from a Tradition in which Holy Prophet said that

There were Muh:addath: in the previous ‘Ummah and in this ‘Ummah, if some one is worthy of it , then
it is Saiyiduna: ‘:Umar RD: .

Allah's Messenger (‫ ) ﷺ‬said, "Among the nations before you

there used to be people who were inspired (though they were
not prophets). And if there is any of such a persons amongst
my followers, it is 'Umar."
: Sahih al-Bukhari :3689: Book 62,Hadith:39 : Vol. 5, Book:57
Hadith 38
َ ُ ‫“ ُم َح َّدث‬
In this Tradition the word is “َ‫ون‬

TheَwordَMuh:addath:u:nَmeansَ“َThoseَwhoَareَspoken”َ.

This is the Literal meaning. Inspired is not the accurate meaning but just an
approximation.

TheَInfinitiveَ“Mas:dar”َisَTah:di:th:

The wordَTah:di:th:َisَnotَaَsynonymَofَtheَwordَ‘Ilha:m.

As a term there are the definitions of these two terms are not one and the same.

IfَMirza:َJhelumiَsaysَthatَtheَwordَTah:di:th:َisَ‘Ilha:mَthenَheَhasَtoَproveَthatَeitherَ
the literal meaning of Tah:di:th:َandَtheَliteralَmeaningَofَtheَwordَ‘Ilha:mَareَoneَandَ
the same or he has to prove that both term has one and the same definition.

So the burden of proof is on Mirza: Jhelumi: .

Similarlyَifَheَsaysَthatَthat:َAllَTah:di:th:َisَ‘Ilha:mَ.َthenَhe has to prove it.

In the case if he is supposed to prove some how thatَ“AllَTah:di:th:َisَ‘Ilha:m”َthen this

doesَnotَimplyَthatَ“Allَ‘Ilha:mَisَTah:di:th:َ“

Logicallyَifَitَisَtrueَthatَ“AllَAَisَB”َthenَitَisَnotَimpliedَthatَ“AllَBَisَA”َ.

So this means that unless he does not prove them his argument from the text of the
tradition is invalid.

2] True Dreams as a part of Nabu:vah

“Trueَdreamsَareَoneَofَtheَforty-sixَpartsَofَProphethood.”َ(al-Bukhaari, 6472; Muslim,

4201)

Ibn 'Umar reported Allah's Messenger (may peace be upon him) as saying: The pious
dreams are the seventieth part of Prophecy. Muslim Book 29

ItَisَsaidَthatَforَdreamَthatَitَisَaَpartَofَProphethood,َbutَitَisَneitherََsaidَforَ‘Ilha:m

Nor for Tah:di:th: stated above.

‘Ilha:mَisَneitherَaَpartَofَNabu:vahَnotَitَconstitutesَit.

SoَOnceَagainَMirza:َJhelumi:َhasَtoَproveَthatَ‘Ilha:mَisَaَpartَofَNabu:vah.

As this is just a critique , the flaws in the argumentations of Mirza: Jhelumi: are pointed
out.

Conclusion

Mirza: Jhelumi: is unable to prove his case.
