Alma de Cuba Case Study CAPITAL

How We Made £2Million

From Thin Air

Alma de Cuba is one of Liverpool’s most

popular nightspots and restaurants. It’s no
exaggeration to say that from Thursday to
Sunday you’ll find queues of people snaking
down Seel Street waiting to gain entry.
The atmosphere is electric and builds to a crescendo as the
clock strikes midnight. The music stops, the lights go out
as the amazing Voodoo dancers and performers take to the
stage. The soundtrack of Insomnia by Faithless gradually
quickens then explodes into its timeless, thumping beat,
the dancers follow suit, the crowd come together, clapping
in time as if in the front row at Glastonbury, tickertape falls
from the ceiling, a single shaft of light picks out a toned,
shirtless fire breather, he soon starts spitting flames high
into the huge vaulted space above the former alter of this
incredible building. Nights at Alma de Cuba are something to
be experienced and people come back time and time again.

But what has this to do with making money from thin air?
The secret is in the layout of this former church. When it The Vestry would increase restaurant covers and create a

one month not at the end of the term. We raised the required
£550,000 within 9 short days. These funds were used to
bring The Vestry to life, works, undertaken by our own
construction team were completed within six weeks, and is
now open and thriving.

Before being purchased by Signature Living, Alma de Cuba

was taking £40,000 per week. Following our take over this
doubled to £80,000 a week after we’d put The Signature
stamp on the business. Now with the addition of The Vestry
which has already taken 91 bookings for events in 2019 we’ll
be adding a further £40,000 per week.

£40,000 x 52 = £2,080,000. All from thin air.
