The primary objective of the Global Merchant Information Strategy (GMIS)


Reporting & Analytics (R&A) Initiative is to enable access to consolidated merchant
data and to power analytical capability in order to answer key business questions
more effectively and efficiently across all regions of American Express. There is a
proven overlap of data used by business constituents across systems and regions
(approximately 70-80%). This program seeks to improve analytics by addressing the
business need to access globally consistent key metrics, integrated with the
merchant information needed for their core business decision making. A consolidated
program approach enables the business to centralize on a consistent global data
model and realize scale and scope synergies through a common
platform/implementation.

Responsibilities

Description:

GWTS is a Global Warranty Trend System. The purpose of the


GWTS system is to provide the Global Warranty Operations (GWO) group data for
reports that will tell them how a Dealer does in warranty work compared to other
dealers in the same region. This system has separate job streams for North
America/Worldwide Direct Market Operations (WDMO), Europe, Jaguar and Land
Rover. Each of these streams is very similar in processing. The GWTS (Trends)
processing loads data into the Teradata database system to provide end-user
reporting via the Global Warranty Management System (GWMS) to dealers on their
Warranty performance.

Responsibilities

• Monitoring and debugging job run status using Data Stage Director.

• Handling data rejection during data load. Capturing the Exception and
Rejection records.
• Integrating jobs using Job Sequences based on the subject area and type of
source.

• Running the Job Sequence by executing the jobs through the UNIX shell
scripts.
• Creating and executing the unit test cases.
• Owning the preparation of the review checklist to review the Data Stage jobs.
• Developing the jobs to populate source data to staging table’s.
• Monitoring logs and ensuring that the jobs completing in SLA intervals.
• Work on fine tuning of the jobs running for long hours in QA environments.

• Coordinating between the user teams and test teams and ascertaining that
the code is working free after implementing changes.
