PROCEDURE MEETING THE LEARNER’S


NEED
INTRODUCTION and MOTIVATION : ( minutes)

Essential Question: How can I express myself ?

Emoji Activity: The Teacher will be flashing different pictures / emoticons. The
student’s tasks is to determine the exact emotion shown. Maximum 15 pictures and
emoticons.

Motivation:

Guide Question: Where you able to identify directly the different emoticons shown
by the teacher?

If No?
Ask the following questions :
 Why was it difficult for you to identify the emoticons or emotion shown?

If Yes? (3-5 Students)


Ask the following questions :
 Could you share to class a scenario in which you experienced the emotion?
INSTRUCTION AND DELIVERY (3 hours) depending upon the number of hours per
meeting

Discuss and understand the main concepts of emotion, what is emotional


intelligence, effective ways to manage emotions.

Definition of Terms

-conscious mental reaction subjectively experience as a strong feeling usually


directed toward a specific object and typically accompanied by physiological and
behavioral changes in the body. (Miriam)

-A natural instinctive state of mind deriving from once circustamces, mood and
relationship with others.(Oxford)

Emotional Intelligence
- Awareness of one’s emotion and ability to understand the emotions of
others.
- Involves managing emotions and applying them to enhance good thinking
processes like reasoning, solving problems and even handling stress.

Theories to be Discussed:

Peter Salovey and John Mayer ‘s Theory

- Emotional intelligence is important to regulate thinking and behavior.


- Emotional guides the process of thinking and doing.
- Key components of Emotional Intelligence
- Appraisal and expression of emotion , Manage emotion
- Using emotion to achieve a purpose, thinking, planning motivation.

Goleman’s Theory

- Included the role of social skills in establishing meaningful relationships in the


process, and recognize meaningful relationships in individual’s goals.

- Introduced the 5 domains of Emotional Intelligence

- Self-awareness, Self-management, motivation, empathy, Social Skills

- Handling our selves and our relationships effectively. Emotional Intelligence


as highly valuable for productivity and success

Effective Ways of Managing Emotions.

1. Keep your emotions in check


2. Take a moment to consider your feelings specially the distressing ones.
3. Handle your anger well.
4. Keep a positive attitude.
PRACTICE: Video Analysis ( Journal Writing )

A video about failure and doubt.

Students will be asked to give their Personal reflection on the message of the Video .
afterwards the students will be asked to answer the following questions in their
journal.

ENRICHMENT: Peer Counseling / Sharing Activity

The students will be asked to write in a small piece of paper the emotion they are
currently experiencing.

- The paper will be folded into 2, dropped in a bucket. The class will seat and
form a big circle on the door.
- Each student will pick a paper inside the bucket and he/she shall give advice
or suggestions on how to manage the writer’s emotion.

EVALUATION:
Short Quiz

Students will be asked to create a Advocacy about managing emotions in a correct


manner. Students will be graded using a rubrics.
