Installation

3.2.4 Exposition to external contaminant environment

The presence of metallic or wood powder into the working area of the Operator Panel can compromise it correct
working. The terminal has to function into an electrical cabinet with adequate filtered air change. This to guarantee the
necessary cooling. This require e periodical filters control and cleaning (or substitution).

Degree of protection The Operator panel is guaranteed to respect the following IP Class of Protection

SPECIFICATION Limit
Frontal Panel IP 54 (Note 1)
Electronic Module IP 20 (Note 2)

Note 1: Protection against water spray.

Note 2: Protection against intrusion of solid parts with diameter bigger than 12 mm. No
protection against liquids.

Installation

3.3 Electrical requirements

3.3.1 Power Supply

Electrical The module supply must respect the following values:

Specification

Specification Limit Value

Typical supply voltage 24 VDC
Maximum supply voltage 28.8 VDC
Minimum supply voltage 20.4 VDC
Maximum supply current 2A
Maximum power consumption 40W
Insulation Input Voltage ( among AC/DC/Earth) It is necessary to
supply the module
with a DC
stabilized power
supply insulated
from earth.
Over- voltage protection Yes with varistor
and transil
Hold up time >10 mSec

If the input voltage isn’t stable is suggested the use of an UPS unit.

3.4 Customizations

The Operator Panel allows the customizations of some functions keys. The insertion of
the customization strip is done by Esa/Gv during the device functional test.

Esa/Gv
20
Installation

3.5 Connections

3.5.1 Rules to be respected during cable execution

To guarantee absence of electromagnetic interferences during the terminal use it is necessary to properly study the
cables placement into the electrical cabinet.

Cables definition Signal Cables:

• Digital Input/Output +24VDC
• Analog Input
• Analog Output

Power Cables:
• Supply cables (380 VAC or 230VAC).
• Motor – drive power cables .
• Connection cable for inductive loads with input voltage equal or bigger than 110
VAC.

Installation Rules To guarantee the maximum noise immunity it is requested to respect the following
rules:
• Put the signal cables far as possible to the power cables.
• Do not place the device and its signal cables near an heavy magnetic field ( for
example the one generated by motors or transformers) .
• Place the device and the cables far from neon lamps.
• Cables with high energy pulsing signals (characterized by very fast variation in
Voltage/Current ) must be completely separated by all others. Is however
recommended to use for them adequately shielded cables.

To doesn’t respect the above described rules can generate a wrong working of the
device.

Noise suppressor To eliminate noise generated by coils , electro valves , contactors , motors and other
filters inductive loads, can be used specific filters directly mounted on the noise source or
nearest to it .

Esa/Gv
21
Installation

3.5.2 Earth connection

To guarantee a safe use of the terminal and noise immunity it is necessary to correctly connect it to the earth .

The Operator Panel must be connected to the main Earth connection (PE) of the
electrical cabinet through the pin N. 2 of the supply terminal strip and the screw
identified on the rear side of the panel with the earth label.

A wrong earth connection can compromise both the operator safety and the
correct functioning of the device.

Connection Example

3.5.7 USB Interface

The Operator Panel allows the connection to the USB of the PC/CN directly from a
specific socket placed on its front bottom left side.

For the external connection to the Operator Panel socket is mandatory to use cable
homologated by the linked peripheral builder. The max length of the USB connection,
in case of direct connection has no to exceed 5m . Otherwise an active USB extender is
required .

devices not ON ( in absence of power). Not respect this rule can broken the line
drivers o receivers.
The connection must be done using shielded cables, The shield must be absolutely
linked at both sides.
If it is necessary to interrupt the Operator Panel connection using an intermediate
connector avoid to mix on the same cable signals and power cable. Remember also
to connect the shield to both joint connectors to avoid to interrupt it.

Do not respect the above prescriptions can generate damages to the electronic board and
functionality problems to the system.
