How are you? .I was out of the country for 3 weeks and got back a few days ago.I was at the other end of the earth.

I had gone to Lima in Peru to be part of a symposium on Edmund Rice Education. It was a wonderful experience.There
were principals and educators from 26 different countries of the world who are all involved in Edmund Rice Institutions
like St Joseph’s Nainital.You will be happy to know there is an Edmund Rice School in Lima as well.
It is called Fey y Allegria School
( which is Spanish for Faith and Joy School).
This photograph shows myself and another school
principal from India ( Mr Ravi Victor – of St Vincent’s
School ,Asansol- Suvardhan and the football team have
gone there ) in a classroom in the school.
Everyone in Lima speaks in Spanish as that is the national
language. English is not of much use.
I manage to learn to say please,good morning,good
afternoon and goodnight,and thank you in Spanish.
I hope you might get the chance to go and see this
wonderful part of the world someday.The place we were
staying in was just next to the pacific ocean.That’s the
pacific ocean you can see behind me in the photo.

THE IMPOSSIBLE MYSTERY OF THE FOOTBALL BOOT MILLIONAIRE

Naldo mansion was the home of the eccentric italian millionaire Tianoro Naldo .
He had made a huge fortune by selling badly made football boots to unsuspecting
customers.
Inspector Barker had been called in to investigate his apparent suicide.

Tianoro Naldo had been found inside his study room slumped over his desk.He had
been shot through the heart and the gun had been found lying on the floor next to
his desk. They had to break down the door to enter the room as it was locked.The
only key to the door was found in the front pocket of the Tianoro Naldo’s Jacket which was draped over a chair in the
room. The windows in the room were all found locked securely from the inside.The only other entrance to the room was
a narrow ventilator above the door.It was open but far too narrow to have allowed anyone to enter or leave the room
through it.

Barker interviewed the only people in the house at the time.

These were the gardener,the butler and the millionaire’s nephew, Chris.

Chris said “Oh my poor uncle Tianoro. Why did he have to commit suicide? This is such a tragedy.
Maybe he was feeling bad about selling bad football boots to so many people.I will start a new company in his memory
and call it “ Chris Tianoro Naldo Football Boots” and I will make only good football boots.Oh my poor uncle Tianoro …..
Boo Hoo ,Boo Hoo” .He began to weep and bang his head on the ground .

The Gardener said : “ Mr Tianoro always plucked a new rose from the garden everyday and wore it on the lapel of his
jacket.Oh the master was such a good man.”He began to weep and bang his head on the wall.

The butler said ” Chris borrowed a roll of twine from me because he said he wanted to repair a hole in a pair of new
football boots his uncle had sold him.Oh I will miss my dear master” He began to weep and bang his head on a tray he was
carrying.

The Policeman who broke down the door said,”I found a rose in the wastepaper basket in the study room sir. I think he
took it off from his jacket before he shot himself “( He did not weep,nor did he bang his head on anything)

“Hmm”,growled Barker,”Why would he take off his jacket,remove the rose

from the lapel,and then shoot himself.?”
He thought quietly to himself for 0.39 seconds and then barked,”Ha ! I
have it. I know how you did it”
He pointed to the murderer and said “Stop weeping and banging your head you
scoundrel.I arrest you for the murder of Tianoro Naldo”
Then he went home and had a cup of tea.
