Objectives: At the end of the activities, the students should be able to:
1. determine the domain and range of the sine and cosine functions.
2. determine the amplitude and period of the sine and cosine functions.
3. graph sine and cosine functions. ***

ACTIVITY Teacher’s notes

Activity 1: Can you Recall Me? Monitor students’ activity.
The class will be divided into 4 groups. They will be given
different functions to graph. They will identify the
following:
a. Domain of the functions
b. Range of the functions
c. X – intercepts
d. Y - intercepts

Group I: Linear Functions

Group 2: Quadratic Functions
Group 3: Rational Functions
Group 4: Polynomial Functions
ANALYSIS
Students will share their findings to the class. Process students’ responses.

Activity 2: Graph Me! Let students share their answers.

Learning Cycle

Using the same grouping the students will graph the

following: Ask the following:
Original 1. What did you observe?
Group 1: y = sin x y = sin x – 1 y = sin x + 1 2. Use another numbers, is your
Group 2: y = cos x y = 3 cos x y = -3 cos x observation still the same?
Group 3: y = sin x y = sin ½ x y = sin 2x 3. Try another set of numbers, is
Group 4: y = cos x y =-cos x y = -cos x + 1 your observation applicable to
all or for a specific number
only?

Process students’ responses/

ABSTRACTION
Activity 3: Let us Try! Discuss the range, domain, amplitude
(See attached Activity Sheet) and period of sine and cosine
functions.

Ask students to answer some

questions to check their
understanding.

Provide worksheets for students to

answer.
APPLICATION
Activity 4: Sines and Cosines in Our Life Discuss to students the real-life
Group students according to their interest. Ask them to applications of the graphs of sine and
think of the activities or situations that they know are cosine function in:
a. Respiratory Cycle
connected to the graphs of sine and cosine.
b. Health
c. Piano Tuning
Ex. d. Fuel Consumption
Bodily-Kinesthetic – Dance
Spatial – Drawing/Design
Language – Essay/Poem

Closure: Life is like the graph of either a sine and a cosine function. It is full of highs and lows. It is upon
you on how to change the period and cycle of it.
