WRITING EXERCISE – LIVING IN A FOREIGN COUNTRY

Living an Argentina could be an unforgettable experience. As a country near from Brazilian

boundaries, and whose language is similar to Portuguese, I believe that any Brazilian people could
live there without significant problems. Nevertheless, when a person visits any foreign country,
he/she is supposed to remember some useful advices for guaranteeing a more tranquil stay.
First of all, Argentina has a intense cultural live – there are a lot of night clubs, restaurants,
theatres, museums and all sort of leisure options. However, make sure about cultural features of
local people and avoid to behave there as you were in Brazil. It is recommended, for example, to
avoid wearing Brazilian team shirts in some local places (specially pubs and night clubs), because it
is known by some people as a provocation – it's supposed to remember that, in soccer games, there
is a strong rivalry between Argentina and Brazil.
In spite of their attractives, if you live in Argentina, you're supposed to remember the most
regions/districts are colder than Brasil. Therefore, it is convenient to get some winter clothes, like as
jackets, coats, gloves, scarves, bonnets and socks – all of them made of wool or another material
which offers protection against cold.
I believe that simple tips are going to be useful when you visit our neighbors (also known as
“hermanos”) and are going to help you enjoying all the Argentinian cultural richness, as well as
knowing interesting people. Maybe you find your better half during a tango dance.
