HOW TO USE THE INTERNET TO LOOK UP AND FIND INFORMATION

Press the HOME BUTTON on right side of your iPad

To see if you are on the Internet

Find the SETTINGS icon which looks like this Touch it to open the page

The page will look like this - on the left touch WiFi and it will open -If you have a TICK up in the
right hand column - you are on the Internet. And you should have a cone symbol
in the corner next to the word iPad below circled in red

NOW PRESS HOME BUTTON

Find the SAFARI icon that looks like this and click on it
**** The page will open and look something like this - with a SEARCH BAR (circled in red) at the
top of the page. If there is writing and a C or a x at the end of the line, touch the
words, they will be selected and turn blue. To CLEAR it - just touch the little cross at
the end of the bar - (circled in green) - or the back space symbol which may be easier.

This will appear in the search bar -

Touch the search bar and your cursor will begin blinking, now you can type in whatever you want to
find - for example, I’ll type in - better homes and gardens how to grow roses - then touch the GO
BUTTON on the keypad and it will open all the headings of information you can explore. A page
like this will open with lots of advertisements which may or may not be of interest to you.
Scroll down to where one of the headings says -Roses - Better Homes and Gardens - click on the
heading and it will open

A page like this will open

and you can scroll up
and down the page.
Touch any picture to get
the information.

If this symbol
shows, it is a
video.
Touch it to play. 2 lines will
display.
To stop and start the video touch the symbols.
To go back to another picture or video
Scroll right to the top of the page.
Touch the BACK arrow in the TOP LEFT hand corner of your screen (circled).
When you have finished looking at this page and want to go back to see the other headings -
scroll right up to the TOP of your page and touch the tiny cross (Circled).

WHEN YOU HAVE FINISHED LOOKING AT ROSES and WANT TO LOOK AT SOMETHING ELSE

Scroll up to the search bar where it says “roses”, touch the search bar and it will select the words
and turn blue. Then touch the little cross circled - or the back space symbol on the keyboard.

Touch the Search bar and the cursor will be blinking. Type the subject you want to see -
Then touch GO on your keypad.

If you want to watch a VIDEO - In the search bar - Type - Youtube in front of your topic.

REMEMBER: After Youtube put a space after it and type your subject.
For example - Youtube how to draw a puppy
Touch GO on the keypad and........
If you get adds as the video begins, touch the “skip add” words.

If video is going too quickly you can touch the screen and a red bar
will appear. Slide it backwards or forwards whilst the video is playing.
You can pause and restart the video at
any point with the stop/start symbols.
