Fourteenth Sunday in Ordinary Time

As we celebrate our freedom, let us give thanks to God for our abundant blessings and
remember God’s Kingdom is being established on earth and we are to be part of this.
We are sent into the world like the seventy-two were sent in the Gospel. Jesus wants
us to bring the good news to our families, neighborhoods, workplaces – wherever we
go! “The work of handing on the faith to children, in the sense of facilitating its growth,
helps the whole family in its evangelizing mission. It naturally begins to spread the faith
all around them, even outside of the family” Pope Francis, The Joy of Love #289
366 Holy Hours were kept before the Blessed Sacrament this past week. First

Pastor’s Formed Pick of the Week: “Grace”

What is grace? What is its purpose? How do we receive it? Who can receive it?
Are there different types of grace? Are there mistaken or erroneous teachings about
grace? How does modern research help us understand the idea of grace? This film
answers these and other questions about grace. In Christian theology, the various
names and types of grace share one key idea: a second birth into a new and holy life,
like a seed in the ground that grows into a plant and bears fruit. In this new life of
grace, a human being participates in the life of God, becoming one of His adopted
children, and calling Him "Father".
Christ’s Peace!
Fr. David Majikas

Thank you for your generous support in last week’s Peter’s Pence Collection. Our contributions,
combined with those from other brothers and sisters around the world, will help Pope Francis
provide essential relief to people in need. If you missed the collection, it is not too late to give!
Visit www.usccb.org/nationalcollections, and click on the “How to Give” link.

Just a reminder that our parish has (every Thursday afternoon at 3:00pm) a Holy Hour for
Priests. This hour also is very beneficial to all priest but, especially our priests here at St,.
Augustine. Have you ever given serious thought to a parish without priests? There is no parish!
Think of this hour as a gift to them, from you, every week. Probably, payback to you by our Lord
Jesus Christ when we come face to face! It would not surprise me. Holy Hours before our Lord
in the Blessed Sacrament….same thing. Anything you do for Him will never be forgotten by
Him, Jesus Christ. This is building up treasures in heaven.

This weekend we will have a special second collection for Barberton flood
relief. The monies collected will be distributed through our St. Vincent de
Paul Society. Please be generous.

Charitable Giving Ideas for 2019 - Did you know that gifting appreciated stock (held more than
one year) to a charitable organization such as Catholic Charities or your parish may allow you to
deduct the stock’s full value and bypass capital gains tax? In addition, if you are 70 ½ or older,
you may be able to reduce your taxable income this year with a gift made directly from your IRA
to a qualified charity such as Catholic Charities or your parish. Your accountant or IRA
administrator can help you understand how the IRA Charitable Rollover works and the particular
steps you can take to lower your taxes and help Catholic Charities, your parish or a diocesan
ministry. Learn more by contacting Sandy Lucas of the Catholic Community Foundation at (216)
