Fight Against Global Warming Through Sustainable Innovation

YK5 Power Private Limited

Overview

For the first time in the world, Zero-carbon technology is being used for Green Power Generation. It
involves harnessing renewable energy technology or Zero-carbon technology, utilizing unique renewable
organic processing devices. Worldwide above 50% of power generation is only used by fossil fuel but
Green Power Generation is used by harnessing of renewable energy sources. No carbon is used in the
process. It is a patented technology and will meet 487,000 MG generation of power.

Innovation

The innovation is in the field of rail track wind generated power. YK5 is changing the way locomotive
trains are powered. The innovation harvests renewable energy and is transforming the industry through
its innovative practices. It is a regulated wind generated power and not a naturally blown wind
generated power. When the train moves at a speed, it actually pierces (cuts) and splits the wind. In
accordance with the Newton’s law of motion - for every action there is an opposite reaction. The
dynamic forward motion of the train equals the motion experienced by the wind split by the train. This
enormous energy is so far unutilized. This invention to an extent captures the energy, converts it to the
electric energy and transmits the energy for further traction purposes.

What is additional to the existing technology is the introduction of wind generators. Through a step-up
transformer, each wind generator is connected to power grid which in turn supplies electric power to
locomotive. The conventional railway locomotive system has a locomotive engine having many
compartments which propels on railway track. This locomotive system proposes installation of wind
generator in between already existing electric poles at both end of railway track, such that the wind
generator is installed in between two electric poles on a horizontal bar mounted between two electric
poles in between two railway stations. A number of wind generators will be installed and based on
design parameters and each generator will be directly connected to electric power grid through a step-
up transformer.

Each wind generator comprises a curved back cover plate and a mesh shaped front cover plate intended
to capture maximum quantity of wind and directing the wind towards the center of wind generator so
that maximum electric power can be generated. This power is immediately transferred to electric power
grid through a step-up transformer. The generated power of the wind energy generator matches with
the power grid which supplies power to the locomotive engine through the locomotive grid. The critical
components of the wind generator configuration is in such a way that it traps maximum quantity of
wind. The configuration of the blade of the fan of wind generator is such that maximum wind is sucked
by the blades in order to obtain maximum energy. The rating of the wind generator and the number of
generators is critical in the configuration of locomotive system. An energy meter is provided between
wind generator and step-up transformer in order to record the energy generator.

This Green power generation technology could soon replace the power producing sector globally.

Inspiration
Mr Neethichamy, the CEO of YK5 Power, believes that electricity should be available in all the villages of
India and this process should be accomplished in a sustainable manner. His vision is to find out better
methods for sustainable power generation. The inspiration for this innovation is providing power at
cheap cost to all the villages in India. The whole process is eco-friendly as there is no pollution or carbon
dioxide emission in generating power using the Green Power Generation process and the process of
generating power involves minimum operating cost and minimum maintenance cost.

Thomas Edison is Mr. Neethichamy's inspiration. Thomas Edison had developed 1093 patents for various
products and many of those products were an evolution.

Overall impact

The Green Power Generation technology is a Clean Energy as it does not use fossils, coal or petroleum. It
will help in preserving ecology and Earth in its natural state and making India live in harmony with
nature.

In the world of rising costs, it is setting a new trend of lowering costs as this green power is not only
sustainable but also operates on minimum operating costs and minimum maintenance costs which is
lower than other power generation processes. It supplies quality energy at less than normal cost.
Electricity is available at a cost of 1 Indian Rupee per unit of electricity.

Total carbon dioxide emission of the world is 1.73 billion metric ton out of which electricity emissions
are 0.95 billion metric ton. The Green power generation could reduce the emission of carbon dioxide
across the globe.

As this technology does not need any consumption of oil, it eliminates dependence on oil which we all
know will not last for many years.

Business benefit

It eliminates dependence on oil imports which hugely affects the foreign reserves of India. It also
ensures huge cost saving of oil purchase. It is a patented technology and therefore YK5's business could
have a monopoly in future as no one else can use this patented technology.

Social and environmental benefit

In the long run, green energy can be used as a substitute for fossil fuel which will reduce the
consumption of petroleum as green energy is a clean energy and does not need petroleum to generate
power.
