DaVinci Relationships

Introduction

DaVinci is the most famous and admire due to his art of Mona Lisa and The Last

Supper. Da Vinci believed his art was connected to nature and science. Da Vinci was an artist,

architect and a scientist who had different types of skills. The Vitruvian Man brought together

ideas of art, architecture, human anatomy and symmetry in one distinct. He believed that as an

architecture they should focus on three central themes for building strength, beauty and

functionality. The length of the persons hand was one-ninth of their height. In order to find out if

Da Vinci relationships are true we will me measuring our classmates. We want to know if these

proportions are still relevant, and if they are true and strong relationships.

Methods

In order to test Da Vinci’s theories we must use these variables height, arm span, kneeling

down height and arm length. I measured my classmates height without shoes so we can have a

correct height and with both of their kneel touching the floor while using a ruler to get an exact

measure. I measured their hand length by using the ruler to measure them from their first line of

their wrist to their tip of their fingers. After collecting the data from my group we inserted my

data in a google sheet to create my tabel. After I used desmos to plot the the points in my graph.

Desmos is a graphing calculator, it can plot a variety of different equations from lines, to

parabolas and more.

Results

The arm span, kneeling height and hand length are the response variable meaning this is

the y-axis.The explanatory variable is the height which is the x-axis. We then used desmos to

plot the equations. As you can see graph one has an outlier. An outlier is the point that is distant

from the other observations. The graph with no outlier had a y-intercept of zero. For every

increase in height the arm span increased by 1.005. The slope with the model of no outlier was

1.0057.The constant is equal to 0.822. The hand length and the height increased by 0.1060.the

changeability of the hand length is 0.713. The slope with no outlier is 0.106075 and the constant

is equal to 0.7136.The other model with an outlier the variation of the arm span was 0.8223.The

slope for the model with the outlier had a slope of 1.05119. The constant with the outlier was

0.9214. The slope is 0.0377 and the constant is 0.1618.

Discussion

To conclude, Da Vinci’s model was approximately. The correlation of height and hand length

seem to be more common for children. This proportion for adult will be wrong. The hand length

only apply to the children. This should be used for artists because when they approximate their

measurements.
