In both cases, the teenager feels smitten by a compelling person who captivates their attention for
good and ill.” Even different types of crushes, romantic and identity, both emerge in this
common way. This common way is being struck and excited about another individual. Tis
statement from the article shows that love can emerge very quickly and that someone does not
have to know someone else very well to take the first steps to falling in love. A first impression
is made when someone captivates another’s attention. This is how love emerges and this can be
seen in Romeo and Juliet when Romeo first sees Juliet. When he first saw Juliet he said, “Did my
heart love till now? Forswear it, sight! For I ne’er saw true beauty till this night” (Shakespeare
1.5. 52-53). Here Romeo has had noticed Juliet and he develops a first impression of her. After
developing this first impression Romeo decides that he loves Juliet. Romeo is completely taken
away when he first sees Juliet and she captures his attention immediately. He falls in love with
Juliet’s appearance but the way this love emerged is the same as what was stated in the article. In
almost every situation no matter how slow or quickly the relationship moves, love emerges in
this common way. It starts with someone noticing someone else and developing an impression of
them. Since love tends to emerge in the same way predications can be made about how long the
