Brasil, oficialmente República Federativa del Brasil6789 (en portugués: República

Federativa do Brasil), es un país soberano de América del Sur que comprende la
mitad oriental del subcontinente y algunos grupos de pequeñas islas en el océano
Atlántico.Con una superficie estimada en más de 8,5 millones de km²,3 es el
quinto país más grande del mundo en área total (equivalente a 47 % del territorio
sudamericano).10 Delimitado por el océano Atlántico al este, Brasil tiene una línea
costera de 7491 km.3 Al norte limita con el departamento ultramarino francés de la
Guayana Francesa, Surinam, Guyana y Venezuela; al noroeste con Colombia; al
oeste con Perú y Bolivia; al suroeste con Paraguay y Argentina, y al sur con
Uruguay. De este modo tiene frontera con todos los países de América del Sur,
excepto Ecuador y Chile.11 La mayor parte del país está comprendido entre los
trópicos terrestres, por lo que las estaciones climáticas no se sienten de una
manera radical en gran parte del mismo. La selva amazónica cubre 3,6 millones
de km² del territorio. Gracias a su vegetación y al clima, es uno de los países con
más especies de animales en el mundo.12

eastern half of the subcontinent and some groups of small islands in the Atlantic
Ocean. With an estimated area of over 8.5 million km², 3 is the fifth largest country
in the world in total area (equivalent to 47% of the South American territory) .10
Delimited by the Atlantic Ocean to the east, Brazil has a coastline of 7,491 km.3
North it borders the French overseas department of French Guiana, Suriname,
Guyana and Venezuela; to the northwest with Colombia; to the west with Peru and
Bolivia; to the southwest with Paraguay and Argentina, and to the south with
Uruguay. In this way it has a border with all the countries of South America, except
Ecuador and Chile.11 Most of the country is comprised between the terrestrial
tropics, so the climatic seasons do not feel in a radical way in much of it. . The
Amazon rainforest covers 3.6 million km² of the territory. Thanks to its vegetation
and climate, it is one of the countries with the most animal species in the world.12
