“TaareZarneen Par”

Inspirational, motivational, and “superb”—as to what Ishaan’s brother told when he

mixed on color pallets—best describes the movie. Indeed, the title translation of the
movie marks on our minds that “every child is special”. It is special not because they are
incapable of doing something but special as an individual who upholds variation and
positive peculiarity of his own being. The movie made me realize, as a person and
especially as a future educator, of how important it is to introspect our students. Who
your students are, and what struggles they face that creates a barrier that deters them
to develop.

In the movie, it was a struggle for Ishaan’s life, only because no one understands him.
His parents, schools, friends, all of them were not be able to recognize the problems he
faced unless otherwise intervened by their new substitute teacher, which resulted in a
diagnosis of dyslexia. Because he was differently abled, he had limitations on skills like
writing and reading passages that made him appear to be retarded and different from
everyone. This creates the problem of misunderstanding and bullying and because he’s
been always misrecognized by her teachers. With it, he developed an inferiority
complex and role confusion. In which, he always wanted to go outside of people’s
bubble and find the comfort of his own, because no one understands. His parents,
especially, his father berates him from his attitude and academic performance that lead
him to be sent into a boarding school. In the boarding school, he faced problems not
different from the problems he had in his past school. Through the opportunity of
meeting his new substitute art teacher, Amir Khan, he was able to develop on his own
specialty. He utilized the limitations he had and empowered himself to feel indifferent
from everyone. Because of this intervention, it opened him opportunity to show his skills
on painting, in which happened to made him possible to win the competition that was
staged on their own school, winning best among the few.

This movie is an eye-opener for everyone especially to the educators to widen the
knowledge and understanding towards people with special attention. That is why in
special education we employ the IEP or the individualize education program to meet the
needs 'individually' of the students based on their special attention. The traditional
essential type of philosophy that was employed, which is the "3 R's" though essential
was not effective for Ishaan. As an educator especially on special education, we must
be adaptive, holistic, and proactive. First because as what the movie imparted that
every child is special, so the basis of the implementation and curriculum design or of
your output must meet the designated needs of every student. They may whether be
physically impaired, visually challenged, speech impairments, etc. but everyone must
have attained their needs without disregarding the quality of education. Second,
because we have to promote equal opportunities for the students to employ the best
within them. Ishaan wasn’t been able to see things same with his other classmate sees
the world but because of this limitation, and the effort of his teacher, counseling him, his
parents, and help him with the struggle, he stood up among the rest. Lastly, because we
are teachers and upholds greater knowledge, we must always consider the welfare and
development of our students. Holistic approach in teaching them, in any way as long as
it would make them better is essential to support their learning experience and
development.

Though I can say that most of his teachers were insensitive knowing that he had this
perennial problem of low scores they did not do any intervention, however, blaming
them might as well do not do well too. That is why there should be proper education for
teachers to be prepared on such instances to encounter students with special needs. As
what I have I have stated earlier, that this is an eye-opener to the educators and to the
implementers to see through and look behind what is with their students. Being a
teacher, you must not only teach but you have to communicate, same as what Amir
Khan did to his students. Because he communicated, he assessed proper intervention
for his student who’s got a problem from learning things. This puts into the idea that we
should really learn the importance of special education course because it may happen
to us someday. We are agents of change, and through the adequate knowledge of
people with special needs, promote the development of everyone.

Watching the movie will really make you realize that it may happen to you, or to the
people you know. At the end of the day, we will also become parents and build our own
family. And possibly we might encounter such. Therefore, understanding your children
is really a must, as everything starts in the family. With the family’s acceptance in the
disabilities of your children, the same with how it was shown in the movie, it will result in
a betterment of the child. On one hand, like what Ishaan have experienced, wherein he
faced disapproval from his father, not knowing what lies in between the experiences he
had. This also roots from the idea that his older sibling is an achiever, making him into
the pressure that he must also do good. Indeed, he made the best effort he has but he
just can’t because of his disability.

In general, the movie is really inspirational. It opens the people especially to parents,
and educators the idea that everyone is special. Every person may lack one aspect of
intelligence but it doesn’t guarantee that you will not stand up on other aspects. This
follows the theory of Howard Gardner in his multiple intelligence, in which he presents
that there are different types of intelligence, among those, we may belong. As an
educator, we must see to it that we will uphold the quality of education and must
consider that everyone is special. Meeting the needs of every student is meeting the
true value of education—fair and holistic.

“Embracing the world without arms”

“I can’t do it” is a mindset. Not because we dont we have nothing, means we cannot do

anything. Seeing the videos of people who are incapable, makes me realize that they

are more capable than i am. Because of the life’s experiences that they had, it made

they stronger. Even though that they don’t have arms, but seeing them so the things

normal people do is an inspiration. For them because they got used to it, it is just

normal. But for us complete, we should take it as an example.

People nowadays get too upset for what they dont have. However, not realizing, many

people are often incomplete. I have realize to be thankful of my life. Not only that i am

grateful but also I am inspired that even though that these people are incomplete still,

they made life normal, adapting to what they only have.

In life, one must be contented. We should prosper and nourish those things that are

given to us. Utilizing, not to remorse or question the incapabilities because it is our key

to make and achieve greater heights.

“Hand in Hand”

The power of art expression deters no incapacity. Mai Li and Zhai Xiaowei, ballet

performers, set example towards expressing their talents though they are physically

incomplete.

I always tell my students that our limitation is an opening for another opportunity. Man

cant fly, but we did, through airplanes. Man can’t go to space but we have, through

space shuttle. Manny Pacquaio has a petite body but because of this limitation, they

made better opportunities. It is indeed a paradox. We can’t but we did. Same with the

dances. One has no hands, one has no feet. But they did the dance as graceful as

those people who has complete set of arms and legs.

Realizing that our limitations will open further possibilities will make as more sufficient,

efficient and resilient to life’s in-equilibrium—Imbalance that creates a balance in our

lives.

“No arms, no legs, no worries!”

Inspiring people, means no bearing with physical appearance. It shows a great example

by Nicholas Vijicic. A person with mo limbs, and arms, yet inspiring people though

incapacitated by birth. But this incapacity he had opened opportunity for him to inspire

people of the struggles that made another opportunity for him to be the best of himself.

Nicholas James Vujicic, is an Australian preacher and motivational speaker born with

Tetra-amelia syndrome, a rare disorder characterized by the absence of all four limbs.

Watching the video, made me realize of how lucky I was to be physical capable and

capacitated. Even though that he is incomplete, however he is more complete than i

am. He is successful, he is contented, positive and still inspires people who is more

than him. Learning from him, seeing him speak in front of the people, is a privilege.

Knowing that even though his life experiences is not as good as we had, however the

way he took the challenge made him resilient than anyone.

I learned that life will never be fair. Though with disabilities, seeing him alleviate himself,

promotes hope and positivity towards humanity.
