Brief description
This HSB describes the update procedure for the new main PCB with cable as well as the installation
process of operating software WinCE 6.0 / User software V6.1e
Instruction / Procedure
1. Switch of the HumaReader HS and disconnect all cables, otherwise the interfaces at the back side
can be damaged during the disassembly.
2. Turn the instrument upside down.
3. Remove the three fixing screws at the front bottom side using a cross screwdriver and lift the top
cover up to get inside the instrument, as shown in figures 1 and 2.

4. Remove the four fixing screws and remove the old main PCB.
5. Install the new PCB and fix the screws. Then reconnect all wires.
6. Insert the SD card (storage capacity must be less than 2G) to the PC and format it to ‘FAT32’ files
system.
7. Copy the following 5 files to the root directory of SD card. (NK.bin means A8 system file)

8. Connect PC and instrument with a RS-232 serial cable and insert the SD card to the slot at the
back of the instrument, but leave the instrument turned OFF.
9. Start the application “DNW” on the PC.
14. Switch on the HumaReader HS and press the ‘space’ key on the keyboard within 3 seconds
after “Hit space to enter configuration menu” is shown on the screen.
A list of options appear.
17. Out of the setting file V1.2 copy and paste the database global.dat to your SD card or USB
flash drive. This will be continued in step 45 here in this HSB.
18. Insert the USB flash drive or SD card into the appropriate port/slot on the back of the
instrument, connect a USB mouse and turn the instrument on!
19. Enter the Manufacturer menu by pressing the left mouse several times on the top right
corner of the main menu.
21. Press Exit to close the window and return to the main menu.
Note: The operating software needs to be closed first. Otherwise the installation will fail.
23. A new Window opens. Click the right mouse on the blank frame and confirm to power
off the system by pressing ‘YES’.
25. Open the folder ‘Storage Card’ or ‘Hard Disk’ and make a Copy of the software file
‘RT2100’
27. The following warnings will appear. Confirm the process twice by pressing ‘Yes’ and
‘Yes to All’.
40. Press ‘Yes’ to reset all items (now all new features will be available)
42. Enter the Serial number from the label on the back of the Instrument and Press OK
45. Enter Touch Panel to re-calibrate touch screen and follow the commands on the
display. Confirm by pressing Yes.
