COURSE LEARNING OUTCOMES (CLO)
Students will be able
to explain the basic principles involved in analysis of experimental
data to derive rate laws for batch, semi-continuous and flow reactors
to develop the stoichiometry of reaction and apply the algorithm for
designing of reactors
to understand mechanism of multiple reactions in different type of
reactors
to understand the fundamentals of catalytic reactors including
internal and external mass transport, catalyst deactivation, catalyst
dispersion

Kinetics of chemical reactions: Rate of reactions, Molecularity and order
of reaction, Various chemical reaction and their kinetic laws including
multiple reaction, Elementary reactions, Complex and multiple reactions,
Uncatalyzed and Catalyzed (both homogenous and heterogeneous) reactions,
Analysis of kinetic data, Evolution of rate of reaction, Empirical and
mechanistic models, Equilibrium and effect of heat on reactions, Reaction
mechanism, Thermodynamics dictating reversibility of the reaction, Polymer
reaction processes,
Design of Chemical Reactors: Mass and energy balance in reactors,
Various types of reactors and their deriving equations especially catalytic
reactors, Kinetic rate laws incorporation in reactors operation,
Thermodynamics dictating adiabatic and non-adiabatic operations, Rate
controlling steps and Quasi state equilibriums
