ARTICLE
The article is a part of the sentence that serves primarily to circumscribe the extent
to which the name to which it is placed must be taken, making it, instead of
covering all the class of objects to which it is applicable, express only that object
already determined and known to the speaker and the listener.
When you say give me books, you do not determine which ones; but when it is said
give me the books, the article expresses them that certain well-known books are
requested, of which it has been treated before. This is called defined or determined
article, which has the following forms:
There is also a singular neutral article that serves to substantiate adjectives: lo:
"The depth". When the substantive neutral article is an adjective, it should be noted
that semantically the construction is not equivalent to the corresponding abstract
noun: "The depth of the well" is not equivalent to "the depth of the well".
