HADM 4125: Purpose Driven Assignment Revision

1) What is the difference between purpose, vision, mission and values, and why they are needed?

A purpose is a reason for doing something or a motivation for existing, a way for your company
to express why it exists and what it is trying to achieve in a clear manner. A vision is how you
see the future: how you see the world if your purpose is achieved. If your purpose and mission
work out, what will the world look like? It’s the largest, furthest out zoom point of your
company, the broadest term you can come up with. A mission is how you go about bringing your
purpose, and so your vision, to fruition. It’s a breakdown of what you plan on doing and how you
plan on achieving your goals, made in a way that it’s clear to the audience that you have a
concrete business plan in place. These are all needed, especially in a business sense, because
without all of them, you are directionless, and your venture is effectively meaningless. In other
words, “if you don’t stand for something, you’ll fall for anything”. These are all needed for you
to pursue your life and your ventures in a meaningful way, and they also bring structure to an
organization, which is needed for the company to be successful and hopefully profitable (or not
if it’s a non-profit, in which case, it’s hopefully impacting other peoples’ lives in a positive
way!). It also allows the audience to connect with your business and truly understand why your
business matters and why they should spend money or their time interacting with you and your
company.

2) What is the difference between strategies and tactics?

A strategy is a plan of action designed to achieve an overall aim, while a tactic is more so the
actual action that is taken to achieve that goal. In essence, a strategy is an overarching plan made
of tactics on how to approach a certain situation. To have a successful strategy, you must think
about the tactics and if they will be successful, especially in the long term.

3) What are your sources of inspiration and strength?

My sources of inspiration and strength come from my family and friends. Specifically, my
mother and my best friend Ariel. They are the best support system anyone could ever ask for,
and they are always there for me when I need them to be. If I ever need help coming up with
ideas, they are always great at coming up with some with me and allowing me to bounce my
ideas off of them, and if I am ever in a rough spot in my life, they know how to bring me back
from the brink. My mother has been there for me from the beginning, and she is my role model.
She is a pillar of strength and inspires me every day. I’m eternally grateful for these two
wonderful, beautiful, strong women in my life who give me strength and inspire me.
