Thank you Pattrick for the introduction. Good morning everybody, I’m delighted to be
here. My name is David co-founder of to do and as Pattrick was saying we are a team of
productivity experts. And we are revolutionizing the way people organize themselves,
share knowledge and information by reinventing online collaboration. And to help me
explain why our users log into to do every single day I’d like to share with you a quote
by Theodor Adorno “The task of art today is to bring chaos into order.” Now, although
we’re not great artists like Jackson Pollock, we are bringing order to the chaos of online
collaboration tools. But before I explain how I’d like share with you a very quick story.

Agriculture it’s one of the most ancient human activities. Now the tools we use they
remain the same for hundreds of years. It took us centuries finally combine these tools
into one awesome glorious machine “the combine harvester”, could also be used as a
bicycle but. Although I have no idea how this machine works, I know you can control it
using only a few simple handles. If we can do this for agriculture why can’t we do it for
everyday work lives.

People today suffer from the complexity in the number of tools and the complexity of
tools to organize their work life, email it’s great for communication but it’s extremely
messy inboxes can be held. It’s a horrible way of organizing your workload. Chat, we
love chat, everybody chats but it’s also extremely messy. People get left out you lose
information and there is no way of tracking the important information that is shared. So
to solve this issue we came up with project management tools, productivity tools share
tasks lists. The collaboration shouldn’t be about filling out forms. Does this feel like
collaboration to you? No it’s just a task list and we’re not computers that can be
programmed to do solves these issue.

We empower teams and individuals to manage all this chaos from one single epicenter.
I’m proud to introduce you to the command box. So using tags just like Twitter or
Facebook, we empower these teams and individuals to manage everything, to send
organize every email, every chat, every task, every date, every note from one single box.
You’ll never have to be in size places at the same time ever again. And to show you how
it works, I’d like to give you a little example. Now, this is Evo, he’s the CTO at spill
games. It’s the world’s largest casual gaming copany and he’s been using to do with one
of his teams. Now, let’s say Evo’s working with his team on a new product launch. I’m
going to show you how he uses the command box.

Evo needs Peter to prepare a product demo. Instead of using multiple tools, he uses only
one the command box. Now in a single sentence he can simultaneously send Peter a
message, update the task list, add to the calendar and tag that message. So that it’s saved
stored and easy to find in the future. Now with other tools he would have to open multiple
tools he’d have to open his email, open his task list, open his calendar open his notes.
But he never has to work like that ever again, thanks to the command box.

Every message that is sent from the command box goes into our Facebook like feet, and
this is where the communication between the team happens. Now unlike an email inbox
for every message the Peter receives from Evo, he knows exactly what is required from
him in an instant. He knows who it’s from how important it is. He knows what to act on
right away.

Peter wants to have involved Jane in the project. Jane she’s not using to do yet and that’s
not a problem by including her email address in a message she’ll receive a link. She’ll
be able to take part in the conversation and get locked in herself. This is how to do
spreads from team to team and even to clients. And when the conversation is over,
there’s a little bit more magic here on the click of a simle button, they’ll all see this. It’s
a clean and simple overview of all of the actions that were discussed during that
convesation. So returning conversations into actions we’re letting this team have
conversation create actions at the same time. We creating actionable conversations and
we’re making collaboration effortless.

And I want to show you something else. When the team is out of the office to do is
available on the iPhone and it’s the fastest collaboration tool out there. Why? Because
all you need to do is type and swipe. And even that’s just the tip of the iceberg. We’re
working on an algorithm to make the command box even simler. We’ll be able detect
natural language understand what you’re typing. So all you’ll need to do is type what
you’re thinking and we’ll take care of the rest.

This team is working with a completely new way of collaborating with other you have
to open different windows, fill out forms, open menus. But modern teams they need a
faster simpler more unified solution and to do is unified it’s completely centralized
everything happens from one box and it’s fast, I mean it’s super-fast. But most
importantly everything is trackable, so that you’ll never lose a piece of information ever
again.
Essay

The demands of customers change constantly and become more diversified. Improving
an old product or making a new product is essential to helping businesses make a
difference, increase their competitiveness and bring about business efficiencies. In order
to achieve those goals, on the first step, you need to do is organizing the event for the
new product launch. It can be said that holding a new product launch event is one of the
most important events that determine whether your product is well received by
customers. The presenter is a decisive factor of this business presentation’s success. This
essay will analysis how successful did the presentation in the video achieve base on rules
of effective oral presentation in the course.

The video is the presentation of David – co-founder for the new software launch named
“the command box”. The presenter has illustrated a fact that people today suffer from
the complexity in the number of tools and the complexity of tools to organize their work
life. Therefore, David’s team has created a tool to manage all this chaos. Then, he
brought forward some examples to clarify the operation as well as the benefits of this
application software. Next part of presentation, the numbers has been shown, it was
about the number of users and the amount of money co-founders investing in the project.
In conclusion, it is the promise of the team to more effort to do will become the norm
and invitation to use their product to customers.

The introduction serves some vital purposes such as introducing the topic and setting the
tone for the remainder of the speech. It must also grab and hold listeners’ attention so
they will be more likely to pay attention to the rest of your presentation. However, before
the audience listen to your introduction, they will judge you by your appearance. In the
video, the presenter wear a black suit with a blue tie. It expresses his professionalism
and help him build credibility. David starts his presentation with confident smile and
introducing his name as well as his work position (identify the speaker). He achieves
involvement and connecting with the topic by a famous quote of Theodor Adorno “The
task of art today is to bring chaos into order.” Finally, previewing the main point “we
are bringing order to the chaos of online collaboration tools.”

The crucial division of the oral presentation is body. It is place where speaker delivers
all of his or her messages or opinions. Thus, not only content but also form should be
shown perfectly. Regarding the form, several elements like animation body, eye contact
or voice of presenter in the video will be considered as the strength of nonverbal
messages.

Firstly, animation body, his hands have somewhere just above the belt, might just be
resting one hand in another or touching either of those work really well. They also
perform a series of actions: makes a range of gestures, comes together or make strong
gestures towards the audience and then the hands just come back to rest.

Secondly, speaking extemporaneously, David totally understand what he is saying.

Without notes or manuscript he remains come across as competent and enthusiastic.
Moreover, all of slides match with his words in a harmonious way.

Thirdly, punctuation words, his speaking speed is not fast nor slow. He uses pause before
and after important points. For instance, when he introduced the name of tool – the most
important point “I’m proud to introduce you to the command box”.

Fourthly, eye contact, he always looks at audience members, not some certain members,
but entire people in the hall. It makes not only him be confident and prepared but also
all audiences feel presenter is really talking with them.

Fifthly, good position, David stands in the center of the light where the light shone
formed a prominent feature. Occasionally, he moves around the location by 2-3 steps.
One more thing proves that his position is very good because he stands on the side of
the screen. This makes it easier for viewers to follow the screen.
Sixthly, vary facial expression, begin with a smile and use it in some times during the
presentation. For example, when he has a joke about the combine harvester could be
used as a bicycle or when he was delighted by the audience’s applause after the
introduction of the product name. Raised eyebrows or wrinkled forehead also David uses
proficiently and naturally if he want to emphasize somethings.

“Content” refers to the structure and organisation of the information, as well as the actual
ideas themselves. A presentation that is well organised and structured will communicate
its message. Because an oral presentation has few visual clues, even when it is well
structured, attendees may easily get lost because they do not see this structure. As a
speaker, make sure you reveal your presentation's structure to the audience, with a
preview, transitions, and a review. In contrast, the presenter did not reveal the structure
to the audience like above tips. However, David’s performance still is considered as an
accomplishment. Hence, to enliven the presentation and enhance comprehension, he
tried using some of the following techniques.

To begin with chronology, after the introduction part, speaker said that “But before I
explain how I’d like share with you a very quick story” and talked about agriculture in
the history. He said that story in order to encourage the audience to use his tool without
worry about its complexity.

Next, David has successed in exploitation pattern problem and solution. He has shown
the big problem that people today suffer from the complexity in the number of tools and
the complexity of tools to organize their work life; and lose information and there is no
way of tracking the important information that is shared. After a series of dilemmatic
problems, the solution is “the command box” empowering teams and individuals to
manage all this chaos from one single epicenter. Given problem and solution makes the
listener feel that team’s product is truly useful. Since then it promotes the intention to
consume this product.
In addition, to highlight his product, the author also compares the product with another
popular product such as email. Criticizing a well-known product makes the audience
more focused on the presentation.

Last but not least, David used the tool to give a happy customer case when using the
product, in other words, he chose pattern “best case”. It can be said that this method is
used in the majority of presentations through how effectively Evo solves its task using a
single software - the command box. At the same time, the author has highlighted the
outstanding benefits of the product.

In conclusion, general presentations and presentations of products in particular are

extremely important events for an individual or even a business. In order to achieve the
best effect, the speaker need organizing the content well (an effective introduction, body,
and conclusion) and improve audience rapport by using the nonverbal messages. We do
not need to use every suggestion as in the textbook but just pick out a number of useful
ways to fit our presentation like the presenter in the video. It can be concluded that the
most important element in the presentation is that you understand completely what you
say.
