Pride of India:

Pros:
Cons:
India is afterall a developing national with several backward communities. These
backward communities have gne on strikes in various parts of the nation highliting that
3000 crores of taxpayers money coukd have been put to better use. The money could
have been used to increase infrastrucure in rural areas and building hospitals They feel
the staue is unneccessaury ... Some also feel that this money coulf be used to help
increase edu facilities esp among the poor so as to make sure that the people do not find
any need to steal.studies have shown that the reasons behind crime mostly is the lack of
basic needs.. this also could have been ensuredby the government through providing basic
public facilties using the money used to constuct the staue of unityalmost 75,000 tribals
were displaced by this project and they have gone on masss protests demanding
rehabilitation which has not beenprovided , and had to part with their ancestral land,
which is regrettable

 My topic for today is ‘’this 597ft staue in Gujarat has come under huge scanner for a
variety of reasons. I shall be talking for the motion.. . An increase in the generation of
employement leads to an increase in the state of peace and hamony of the country
since the very need of stealing and robbing dissipates. which also results in no
resentment among the people to the governement as they would be then, satisfied.
Many guest houses were ordered to be built by the state governement which again
ensures generation of employement. Tickets also add to the nations income. Tour
giudes are also employed in this way. The statue of unity would also inspire people
and motivate them to follow the footsteps of the nations leaders like Sardar…. It
woild also remind the people of their fundamental duties in the indian constitution
which are easily forgotten.

Sardar Vallabhai Patel, the man who united India, never truly got the recognition he
deserved in India’s history as compared to other leaders of his time from the Nehru
dynasty. How many airports/national programmes have been named afte this great
leader? This historical wrong simply had to be corrected. Yes, the project did cost about
Rs. 3000 crores. Howeer, the government itself contributed less than 10% of the amount
involved, so it cannot be considered to be extravagant. It will be a great tourist attraction,
and will recover costs within a decade. More than 30,000 people visit the monument
everyday, creating jobs for all around in the tourism sector.
