POSITION PURPOSE:
Provides direction and leadership support for the district's community equity initiatives aligned with Wake County
Public School System (WCPSS) Board goals and strategic focus areas. Responsible for planning, developing, and
delivering equity professional learning experiences for district employees, coaching community-based equity
teams, providing oversight to the district's family academy and digital connections programs, serving as liaison to
school-based parent equity teams, and actively engaging the community as full partners to interrupt opportunity
gaps and the predictability of student achievement outcomes based on social and cultural factors.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
▪ Comprehensive knowledge of best practices for parent equity programs;
▪ Comprehensive knowledge of equity-based concepts such as critical race theory, intersectionality, identity
development, cultural schema, and culturally responsive instruction;
▪ Considerable knowledge of teaching methodologies and adult learning styles;
▪ Considerable knowledge of school improvement planning processes;
▪ Considerable knowledge of root-cause analysis of systems of exclusion from schools and classrooms;
▪ Considerable knowledge of Microsoft Office Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint; Google Apps;
▪ Effective leadership skills;
▪ Ability to communicate clearly and concisely both in oral and written form using a variety of
communication techniques and tools to ensure the appropriate flow of information, collaborative efforts,
and feedback;
▪ Ability to analyze and organize data;
▪ Ability to gather and analyze data to present recommendations in an easily understood, reportable format;
▪ Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with teachers, administrators, school system
staff, and the public.

POSITION DESCRIPTION
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
▪ Master’s degree from a regionally accredited college or university.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
PHYSICAL ENVIRONMENT
Must be able to use a variety of office equipment such as computers, scanners, and copiers. Must be able to
communicate effectively. At times requires the ability to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects up to ten
pounds. The work requires driving automotive equipment. Due to the amount of time spent standing and/or walking,
physical requirements are consistent with those for sedentary work.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Must be able to work in an office environment and come into direct contact with school system staff, students, staff
members of external funding agencies, and the community.
