1. Degumming is a process for removing phospholipids
(gums) from crude Palm Oil, to improve its physical
stability and to facilitate further refining.
2. Bleaching is a process designed not only to remove the
pigment (chlorophyll) but, more importantly.
3 Deodorization, usually the last step in oil refining, is a
steam-stripping process inwhich good-quality steam (1–
3% of oil), generated from de-aerated and properly
treated feed water, is injected into Crude Palm oil under
high temperature (252–266◦C) and high vacuum
(<6mmHg).
