During their lunch together, Jeannette's mother Rosemary

says to her, "You want to help me change my life? . . . I'm
fine. You're the one who needs help. Your values are all
confused" (Walls 5).

Respond to Rosemary’s quote in a well-written and

insightful paragraph. What do you think she means by
this? What are your own thoughts about her idea?

I believe Jeannettes mother means that Jeannette lives a spoiled rich life and that she
wants her daughter to accept that they are living the way they are because they are
happy. Rosemary thinks her daughter needs help accepting who they are and what
makes them happy. I think that if I were in the same position as Jeannette, I would
want to help my parents out as well even if they didn’t want my help. I would hate to
see any of my family live like that.
